I AM nuts but that's beside the point.

My old neighbor once tried counting the number of times I washed & detailed my car one summer...she lost count & quit before the first month was over

PS: It would have just been easier for her to count the days in the month

I hear it all the time from my ( few ) friends, family, neighbours, etc. but that doesn't concern me any more.

I never washed my car in the rain but if it were necessary i sure would, no problemo

LOL!! My neighbors think i am crazy too!! I am not as bad as I used to be in reference to being obsessed with a clean car. I have washed my car in the rain on many occassions and thanks to the Mr. Clean Auto Wash machine, I can spot free rinse the car in my garage This item works wonders!! I love having a freshly waxed car and i can not stand it when my car is rained upon or is muddy. I have gotten used to it being "dusty" but thats as far as i can go. My parents and neighbors always harass me about washing my car all the time and detailing it, but hey my car is the nicest around my neighborhood and it doesn't hurt to add that i am paying for my car all by myself and it's a large amount of money coming outta the bank every month!! But i am proud that i am 21 years old and have exactly what i want because i am working for it!! So i don't let their sarcastic remarks about "the paint is gonna come right off" and "i can see the primer" and "wash my car next" get to me anymore!!

Birds of a feather fly together. I wish more detailing birds would fly around me. Most of the people in my family couldnt care less . I guess thats why I overreact and wash my car 3 times a week, spray wax onse a week , and regular wax onse a month. After all my car is outside 24/7. I ever took a part time job so I can use their heated garage to clean my car in the winter.

My girlfriend used to always ask why I would go outside and "play with my meguiars stuff", then we washed, clayed, scratch-xed, polished, and waxed her car and now she doesn't ever ask another question. She also bothers me about her car being dirty, but at least she always wants to help.

I started detailing when I got my new car, and a couple weeks later I told my mates that I was getting a job washing cars. They just looked at each other and shrugged. I mean, sure, the R-32 GT-T on the left will smoke me the instant I touch the clutch to shift up, and the BST 180SX on the right as soon as I'm done getting into second, but once we're back to cruising the streets I'm the one getting all the looks.

To me the greatest compliment is when we're carpooling to go out that night, and they ask me if "we can take your red one" out. And then we hit the spot, and everyone gets out and checks themselves on the windows, the doors, the bonnet - whatever surface is reasonably flat

I do still get remarks from neighbours and family, especially when I pull the QD out of the boot to remove a mark made after I've had it in a carpark for a few hours. I know they're just "taking the piss" (google it its a good aussie term!), and I've already managed one convert by offering to get rid of some of the scratches on his newly acquired pulsar. Wait till he sees it after I give it a free polish and wax!

Soon the two black Nissans will be reflective too... fortunately red is so much hotter

Ok this one is from a girl..... my ex always complained that I was always busy keeping my car clean...as soon as it is warm enough to wash and wax I am always detailing something on my car...I think I make excuses to wax something...did the rain thing many of times I figured free rinsing...lol...and then would throw on some quik wax...the neighbors think I am completelynuts...but don't matter rain, sunshine, or snow my 95' beretta is spotless compared to thier brand new garage kept cars... I just sit back and laught to my self....I guess I must be Car Crazy especially when you know the waxes by smell....lol lol!

Cleaning the car is a form of relaxation for me, a stress-buster. We have a great division of labor, my wife cleans the house and I clean the cars. I don't care what others think because the result is ours are the cleanest in the lot. And I'm proud of it!

I know exactly what you're talking about, there are times where I detail the interior of my car 5 days a week, just as a way to get away from it all. Well, that and I like the smell of Megs quick interior detailer .

Re: My wife says I'm nuts

I just installed two four post Back yard buddy lifts in my garage. My mustang that has never seen a day of rain got drenched along with my other two Mercedes-Benz.
We are getting some much need rain all at once here in California.
Once it clears I will need to wash and wax all the cars. I hate a dirty car !!!
                                I am also car crazy.
