Yeah, you should have heard the laugh and seen the look from my neighbor when I pulled the Case dozer around and raised the blade to get a better place to stand while washing the roof of my Bronco.

Hey, 6' ladder was at the job site.

Clean is better, not crazy.

I had to laugh at the comment about the GF and 3hrs at the salon. That is the ultimate definition of insanity.

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Do they really think they'll come out looking like super models?????

I didn't see anything wrong with it but she sees it as a waste of time and no need to spend more then an hour or less on washing.

But Im sure she can spend 3 hrs at the hair salon/or getting nails/pedicure done and justify that, lol.

For those whoose wifes or girl friends think that detailing is a waste of time should realize that you could be out useing your time chasing other women.

My wife says I'm a lucky man cause she allows me to have a mistress. When someone asks for me on a Sunday or during the daily wipe down, she replies: "He's outside with the other woman."

Hehe...Well, my gf finally understood that claying is needed the other day when I showed her the clay that I used on my mom's Corolla...And she went, "Uhm...can you do that to my car, too? I know it'll take some time, but if it means that the car is clean, I'd really appreciate it." So now I have an excuse to get out in the sun and clean her car within an inch of its life.

I have had people laugh at me as well, it's pretty funny. After I told my girlfriend that we where no longer using the "Car washers" in my area she was like.... "So you mean we're going to wash your car by hand for about 4hrs or more?..." and I was like "Yes we are" and then she was like "Great a whole day washing your car..."

Well, it's funny...

Both my gf and my mom thought I was completely nuts for washing, claying, polishing, and then waxing my cars.

Then, on Monday, I spent the entire day doing the 5 step program (geez, I sound like an addict on a 12 step program attending Auto Detailer's Anonymous) on my mom's car. I went through with the 2 bucket system, wiping it down, drying it, and then when I was finished with that, I went to the clay bar. I'd done half of the hood, and my mom came out and wanted to know what I was doing. It was great that I'd only done HALF of the hood, because then I was able to get her to feel the difference!

"Ma, you saw me wash the car, so you know it's clean. Now...Feel that side of the car, and then feel this side."

"Oh my god, it feels like sandpaper on this side!!! And you washed it?!?"

After that, I did the polish, and she came out, shocked that I was taking so long, but she could see the difference already, when it was starting to look less dull.

Finally, when I finished at 5 pm, she came out and looked at it, and said, "Oh my god! It looks brand new! What did you do?"

"I spent 8 hours removing scratches in your paint, cleaning the car, and waxing it. It should now be easier to clean the next time I have to do it."

She's already gotten compliments on it, and she can't get over how good a job I did.

Crazy is investing tens of thousands of dollars in purchasing a car and not taking care of it!

my dad thinks im crazy too. he keeps telling me "your car is turning white already"
but i proudly admit.. that i love my car =p

I think the thing that put my neighbors over the top was me breaking out the leaf blower to dry my car, but they don't say much anymore, I think they are used to it.
