Hey,
OK…I think I really lost it this time! The question often gets asked, “How cold can it be and still detail?” Well…I was planning on doing a write-up for MOL, showing some of the issues of working in the cold. So last night, I went out and washed my truck.
I guess I should have checked the actual temperature and wind chill factor before I started washing. When rinsing the truck, by the time I went around the truck, the water had froze on the truck, canopy, and boat rack…everywhere!!! And I mean froze!!!! Icicles had formed on my mirrors and all over the place in less than a couple of minutes! Never-mind that I could not feel my fingers, ears or nose!

My attention quickly went from washing the truck, to trying to make sure I could back into or back out of it, in case the doors froze shut! I had to leave the doors opened (I did not dare close them!) as I went inside my house to locate some spray silicone and some lock deicer! I spent the next 30 minutes trying to wipe the inside of the doorjambs. Have you tried to wipe something with a towel that is now covered with ice? Not fun, trust me!
So this morning, I will go outside and see if I will be able to detail it or not. Otherwise, I may have to wait a couple of days until it warms up a little!
Here is a picture of my mirror with a sheet of solid ice on it! Like I said…I think I have lost it!

One more...notice the water spray that froze on the paint? At least the doorjambs are clean!
