With temps into the 90s yesterday we knew it was going to be a hot time at TNOG!!
And as it turned out, it was a bit of a contaminated night, too. Just look at what we pulled off a very small section of the hood of a Toyota pickup with 180,000+ miles on it!

Allen kept working around the truck, pulling off several pounds of contaminants (or at least it felt that way!)

Meanwhile, we got to work on the headlights. A little DA sanding....

...followed by some rotary polishing.

Here is the progression of the above process: we started with cloudy, oxidized lenses.

After damp DA sanding with 1000 grit finishing disc, we get this uniform, frosted appearance.

We then refined those sanding marks with 3000 grit finishing disc and the lens started to clear up nicely.

Some rotary polishing with M105 on a yellow foam pad and this is the result - a lens that once again will light the road ahead of this truck at night.

Barry, the truck's owner, got some hands on DA training.

Andy jumped right in an helped attack this single stage red Toyota MR2. Hmmmm.... guess it was Toyota night in the garage!

We did some experimentation on this oxidized single stage paint, trying M80 on a yellow foam pad, using some M07 first to moisturize the paint, some M105 on foam pads, and even the DA Microfiber Correction System. This is how cloudy the paint looked at first.

It's just dull and flat, with not much clarity and poor reflections. This shot doesn't even capture just how bad the paint really was.

But this is the result after working the DAMF System, and the transformation was astounding! The hood of the car looked almost as though it had been repainted - you just have to love the sort of transformation you can get with single stage red paint!
