Wow, what a night! You guys kept us busy late into the night, and it was a blast!
We started out with some typically degraded headlights, and an owner who wanted to know how to correct this.
Some quick wet sanding by hand with 1000 and 3000 grit, then buffing out with a DA gave us this:
So we let the owner handle the rest of the work on his own.
One down, one to go.
Chris came down with his Charger, which he says is still a work in progress, but what work he's done so far! Shaved door handles, carbon fiber hood and trunk, and pearl blue paint with a matte clear. Not every day you see pearl paint under the matte clear, but the effect is pretty cool. From some angles the car looks flat black, from others flat blue. He had the same pearl blue added to the clear over the carbon fiber panels giving an awesome effect. He even feathered the edges of those panels to avoid an abrupt end to the carbon fiber look. Flat black tail lights round out the look, along with a gloss black roof. Very cool.
All in all, we just stayed really, really busy!
Marc08EX made the trip in from Phoenix to hang out with us - always great to see an MOL member from out of town stop in and hang out.
Andy (bmrfan) brought a buddy of his, Paul, in from the BMW Club - and Paul brought his beautifully restored BMW 2002 tii with him. What a treat!
There are some paint issues on this respray, some of which will take some wet sanding and rotary work to correct, but even a once over with the DA Microfiber System did wonders for the overall clarity of the finish.
Once again, a huge thank you to Paul for letting me take his beautiful 2002 tii for a spin (yes, he let me drive it!). What a treat!!!
