Even with a Laker's game on last night we had a big turnout and a busy night!

Ryan and his boys get started on the initial wipe down of his Celica

When we had a chance to pull Ryan's Celica into the garage we did, and put a G110v2 back into his hands. Ryan had taken a recent Saturday Class but was back for a refresher before purchasing a G110v2.

Here Ryan gives Ultimate Compound an initial spreading before he starts working it in earnest.

With the product spread over his work area, he slows down and begins to methodically work out the swirls and other defects. Look at that pattern - even, consistent, overlapping passes of Ultimate Compound in a 2' x 2' area. Beautiful!

At first he found working on this part of fender a bit of a challenge, but soon he was rolling the buffer to match the contours of the panel.

As Ryan finished correcting defects with the paint cleaner, his friends helped out by applying a coat of Deep Crystal Polish to the corrected areas. Ryan then stepped in and applied a coat of Gold Class Carnauba Plus.

Another nice pattern - and a thin, uniform coat of waxed properly applied.

This car is 10 years old so we weren't expecting it to look like it just rolled off the assembly line, but with very little effort Ryan was able to remove 90% or more of the defects.

Before: notice the swirl marks surrounding the light source.

After: same light source, but the swirls are gone.

This shot is a bit more dramatic and really shows how bad the finish was when we started. To say it was a mess is an understatement! But now the color is deep and rich and the metal flake really pops in good light.

While the buffing was going on, our friend and TNOG regular Andy (bmrfan) stepped in to address the faded cowling. Nice and dark on the left side after treatment, still a dull, faded gray on the right where nothing has been applied.

Yep, Ultimate Protectant. Andy loves using this product because of the dramatic improvements he sees every time.

One thing we couldn't fix last night, however, were these marks on a Subaru Forrester. That's not just any old dent and scratch, there's a story behind them. Seems the owner was out on a bit of a camping trip in Northern California a while back and left a little food and drink inside. One of the furry little critters in the forest happened upon the Subaru and wanted a taste of what what inside. In his attempt to open the door his claws did a little damage. Yeah, bears are strong! That's right, this is bear claw damage! And, no, that won't buff out.

As always, thanks to John and Andy for grabbing the camera and snapping some shots for us, to all the regulars for helping out and sharing their knowledge, and to all who came out to spend time with us at Meguiar's Garage.

That was a crazy story. But like you said, Mike, who would want to have that damage fixed when there's such a great story behind it!
