Pictures from Thursday Night Open Garage - March 18th, 2010
Maybe driving a 10 cylinder, 500+HP monster helps with that!
We want to extend a huge "Thank you!" to everyone who came out last night - we had quite a crowd and you guys made it a great night! More pictures to follow shortly................

Here's a little "pre buffing inspection" taking place on the tail gate of Jonathon's F250 work truck.
And here's what we were looking at! There were scratches and scuffs layered in with the swirls and then sort of blended in with the scrapes - it's a disaster!!
We rotary buffed for a while but honestly, the best approach to fully correct this tail gate would be to wet sand it - provided there's enough paint there to safely consider such a dramatic step. But, since this is a work truck and not a show piece, we just cleaned it up a bit. Jonathon tries out the new 6" hand pad to apply a coat of Gold Class Carnauba Plus wax.
Eric brought his Audi S4 in for a little evaluation and correction. The car has some issues and will likely need a respray on a couple of panels, but the healthy paint was pretty straightforward to correct. Here we begin evaluating the finish.
A little claying to clean the bonded contaminants off the surface.....
... and then some Ultimate Compound with a W8207 polishing pad on a G110v2. Eric had never used a buffer before but he picked it up right away, showing great technique from the start (except for spraying everyone with compound when he forgot to turn the tool off before lifting it from the paint )
Here's a side by side after a single pass of UC/W8207/G110v2 - huge improvement with very little effort!!
Eric tackles the rest of the hood.....
His willingness to learn is reflected in the great job he did! (ah, puns.... dontcha love 'em???)
Oh, and for those old, weathered trim pieces.... Ultimate Protectant to the rescue!

Thanks for the great night guys! Nice seeing everyone again!
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like. I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.

Looks like fun. I'm looking forward to my yearly pilgrimage out that way for an open garage!
I've got it pretty dialed now. Detail and few cars for a few guys I got to know when I lived there, go to cars and coffee, and hit up an open garage.....maybe I should start a detailers dream vacation travel company
