Re: Pictures from Thursday Night Open Garage - July 23rd, 2009
We also did a little demonstration of the power of hydrophobic polymer technology.
A demo hood was wiped down with isopropyl alcohol to remove anything from the surface. No defect correction was done, so swirls, holograms, etc all remained in place. Mark Kleis supplied a reverse stencil of the Ford Oval logo was then affixed to the panel and nothing more than Ultimate Quik Wax was applied to the open areas of the stencil. The stencil was then peeled off.
The effects of the Ultimate Quik Wax are immediately apparent here. The treated paint is darker and richer in color, and even the holograms are totally masked by this simple spray on, wipe off product.
Close up of the same piece - look at the difference in appearance! And that hologram running through the oval below the "o" is totally masked by the UQW.
Mike Pennington hits the hood with water, but the water won't stay on the UQW treated logo! The surrounding area has a sheet of water on it, but hydrophobic polymers just push the water away from the treated area.
This is a closeup of the "water wall" created by UQW forcing the water off the surface. This would be the upper right hand quadrant of the oval and the panel is still tilted at the angle shown in the photo above. That's water on the top half of the picture and dry paint in the bottom half. Keep in mind this is nothing more than Ultimate Quik Wax, there is NO base of NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0!

Dang! I wish I could have gone! I missed another good one! At least the angels game was a really good game haha
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like. I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.

I wanted to buy a Supra TT back in 1995. But I bought a 1995 240sx and did an engine swap instead because I was into auto-x and track racing rather than drag racing.
If I had bought the Supra, it would be crazy by now. Sadly I don't have room for one now.

Wow that Supra is CLEAN!
To me it's like a 300lb linemen, it might take awhile to get going. But once it picks up boost it's outta here.

Detailers clean places nobody see. Detailer see's things nobody else see. But if you ask a Detailer to see how a dress looks on a woman, they are blind.
