Mike- thanks for evaluating the paint on the bimmer. I'll try to stop by with another challenging car...well, challenging for me at least.

Here's some pictures from last night, we had a pretty good selection of projects going on including working on two carbon fiber hoods...

2 people tried their hand at using a rotary buffer, a couple other people tried their hands at using Meguiar's G110 as well as plastic polishing, wet-sanding, headlight restoration, interior cleaning, pretty much a well-rounded out night of detailing at Meguiar's Garage!

Nice recovery on the carbon fiber hood on the Honda SC.
How does carbon fiber get that bad?

People don't know you have to take care of it just like you have to take care of car paint although a lot of people don't know they have to take care of their car's paint either.

For years cars salespeople will tell prospective customers,

"This car has a clear coat finish... you never have to wax it"

Or something similar... and that's just not true. A clear coat finish is clear paint, you still have to take care of it just like any other paint.

Carbon Fiber hoods and other components are either straight polyester resin, epoxy or one of these with a layer of clear paint over it.

No matter which type, you still need to wash it, clay when necessary, clean, polish and wax.

Otherwise it will simply go down hill....

              Good question!

                Hi Mike,

Thank you so much again for helping me with the CF hood.

This is the second CF hood I've had restored at Meguiars. =)

I did have one question for you though. Since it required a rotary to buff it out, what kind of product is able to finish it off by hand? or should I just get it re-cleared?

                Thanks again,
                -Khang
