While this Mustang is very beautiful, it has a custom, aftermarket hood that was painted to match the factory paint.

Problem is, not all the sanding marks were removed from the paint on the hood and it still has swirls inflicted by the rotary buffer from the buffing process.

The owner is welcome to bring this Mustang back to Meguiar's to any of our Thursday night "Open Garage" classes where we'll help him to remove the sanding marks and swirls to achieve a true show car finish.

First of all, I gotta tell you all that if you ever get a chance to go to one of these classes, you need to go. Mike really instills in your mind the information you need to properly maintain your toy. We all thought we had some ideas of how to maintain our exteriors, but after the class you really get a new appreciation of what each product does and how to effectively use it. Single stage, hard clear coat, ............. youll learn it all and Mike does an amazing job teaching the class. Thanks again.

Anyone that's never used a clay bar is encouraged to test some out by claying on the demo car...

Everyone is encouraged to try out the G110 Dual Action Polisher. Actually getting the tool into your hand and trying it out before you buy one will help you decide whether or not machine polishing is for you.

Those are some very nice mustangs in the pictures. That yellow mustang is awesome with that body kit. I showed that pic to my dad and he likes what was done to the yellow GT. I wish I could come down to take a class but I have no time, between school and work. Maybe I can take a class later this summer.

first off i would like to say that i attended saturday, and had a great time!!!!

I learned a ton and actually got to apply it the next day....can someone say irony?

fast forward to sunday morning i go out around 9:30am to get some things done and there is about a 6 inch white scratch from one of the friendly kitties in the neighborhood, and it shows. ironically i have made it this far without something like this happening, i have a car cover and dont use it. yeah brilliant me.

well i had things to do, but i would not go anywhere unitl this was gone or i had at least tried to fix it as i was taught the day before. luckily the scratch wasnt very deep, but it was white, and stood out like a sore thumb.

so armed with a few dollar, i got in the zonewent to the one up the street from me and purchased a few more micro fiber rags, a bottle of meguiars polish and scratch x. i already have a bottle of meguiars spray wax, a clay kit, with quick detailer and my new bottle of ultimate detailer. i have a few other scratches that i wanted to work on sometime next weekend but the one in the hood had to go.

mind you i did all of what im about to tell you by hand.

first i went to the local u spray it car wash and washed the car the days task was begun. i dried the car off and proceeded home. it was now roughly 10:30 am

i pulled into a shady area of my complex, and went to work. i claybarred the car the way mike had taught me the day before, and then went to work on the scratch. i dont have a machine, but after several applications of scratch x, i believe my right arm is now stronger than my left, however i digress. roughly 60 minutes or so later the scratch is barely if at all noticeable.

when i was satisfied with the hood, i began polishing the car, when i finished, i wiped down the inside, and put a nice solid coat of wax on the car. i didnt have any chrome polish so i used wax on the rims. i finished by wiping down my mirrors and any other absorbant parts like this on the car, dressed the tires, and then stood back and was amazed!!!

i applied all i could from mikes class and i cant express how much better my car looks and i was able to actually remove the scratch my self.

                              my car looked great!!!!

i finished at around 5 pm.

i also know now that i need a machine , i dont mind the elbow grease but i willing to bet it cuts time in half, and my arms wont hurt the next day.

i went out that night and received many compliments on how the car looked so nice. in addition when i got home i covered it up, and now do so every night. its wednesday and it still looks as good as she did sunday when i finished, only needing an occasional wipe here or there with some UQD. before i leave work i simply dust her with the duster and dust her when i get home. and yes i will be covering her all the time now.

the next day i had people yelling in my window asking how i got it to look so good,

i told them where i learned how to do it.

i reccoomend this class to anyone who has a black car mustang or not. or to anyone who simply wants to learn how to take care of thier car, and get the most out of it.

                              i cannot thank you enough.

i hope to make to a thursday night this summer....i can always learn more, and im sure to be getting a machine now...

                              thanks mike!!!!!

im sorry i dont have any before and after pics, but i do have three more areas im going to apply the methods to, i will try to photo document my issue and results...they are a little deeper and may require mechanical elbow grease. and then its on to the paint chips in the hood. (yeah i got a few tiny ones)

i will say that there was a definite satisfaction in removing the kitty scratch, but the overall satisfaction came when i finished knowing i did the job, and although im no where near being a pro at this, i must admit in all my cars i have had and cleaned this one was the most satisfying and by far looked the best. i could comb my hair in the reflection where the scratch was.

key word in the last statement is "was" cause after polish and wax im not sure if i could find it (the scratch) again
