    Re: Open Class - March 8th, 2008 - Pictures & Comments

hats off to who ever took the pics at the class!

Thanks again to Mike for all the information! I just used my NXT Tech Booster Wax...worked like a charm... But i do have to say...that Ultimate Quick Detailer is a sick product!!!!! My car feels the silky on both sides, except the side using Ultimate Detailer was a breeeeeeeze to take off, where as the Booster Wax required a little more back into it.

Ultimate Quick Detailer...my car's new best friend.... =)

      Mike,

This class was an EXCELLENT class for me. I was able to come in and get information about Meguiar's products, and get great instruction on how to wash, clean, polish, wax my car. I also learned the basics of how to put my DA polisher to good use, and that it's harder than I thought to burn through the paint.

I know I'm going to be making some purchases of Speed Glaze for our fleet of cars on Monday, and I'll be doing some serious detailing over the next few weekends!

            Mike:

Thanks again for the wonderful class. I learned a lot about how to properly use the orbiter buffer. I also would like to thank you again for spending some time looking over my Speedster. I have already purchase some speed glaze 80 and will start to work on it soon.

              Hi Jeff,

It was a pleasure having you at the class and it was fun working on your 1957 Speedster, very cool car and single stage paints are very easy and even fun to work on.

              Have fun!

Great class. Been in the industry for over 20 years, still can learn a thing or two. Mike, it was worth the 6 hour drive. Meguiars products will be seen in the working tool box. Over the years I have asked other product distributors if they offer any kind of class with their products, none of them do. It sure helps detailers out there who had to learn on their own through trial and error. Great job Meguiars.

One of these days when all of the planets are in alignment I plan to make it to one of your ‘hands-on’ classes but until then thank you for all of the helpful feedback!

Yes. Two comments first, this time of year it's hard to get really great photos outside because of the angle of the sun in the sky at the time of the day that we get to inspecting the "After" results, it's usually around 2:00pm. Second in the pictures you'll see some very light swirls where the tape lines start into the area worked and that's because it's harder and more time consuming to really focus on working the paint directly next to the tape as compared to just working the paint in the general area of the section were working on.

                      Does that make sense?

                      Anyway, here's the after pictures...

Before section across from the G110 cleaned side.

                      Machine cleaned and waxed side

The paint had water spots as well as swirls and was an overall hazy red versus a clear red color.

The taped off section with the sun shine spot on it had 2 applications
of ScratchX followed by one coat of NXT Tech Wax.

This is how the paint looked directly across from the ScratchX side

As far as demo cars go, most of the cars at this class were not any worse than this and this car wasn't really too bad. I just needed a good claying as it had a lot of bonded contaminants which was diminishing the gloss of the paint and light swirls and water spots which cleaned off fairly easily with M80 by machine and ScratchX by hand.

Mike, I wanted to let you know how well your class helped me!

I put the info I got from the class to good use today on our 1967 Jaguar E-Type; here's some before & after photos.

                        Before:

                        After:

With this, I'm going to keep hoping that I can get into one of the Advanced classes (maybe in August, as my calendar's full for the next few advanced classes with car shows) and put everything I'm learning to good use!

Thanks to Meguiars and Mike. I knew my car needed a little attention but seeing what you and the and others did to my 996 shocked me. Only problem is now I have to complete the car. Thanks again for the tips and lunch. I will be ordering supplies today.

                            Mike,

Finally got the courage to try some Scratch-X. Had it not been for your class I would have thought the product was a failure. I must have some pretty hard clear-coat, because I saw no improvement after one application. But just like you taught, noticeable improvement after the second and third applications. I ended up working several long scratches from off-roading today, about a 5-foot quarter panel, in less than 15 minutes. Scratches are about 90% gone and not even noticeable after polishing.

Thanks again for your class. With everyone like me getting great results and then spreading the news to everyone we know, you are undoubtedly the best advertisement Meguiar's has ever had.

BTW, good old Meguiar's Cleaner Wax is still my favorite. I was very easily able to remove haze and swirl marks a supposedly professional shop had left behind with just a single application. Cleaner Wax might be geared more towards us weekend warriors than the pros, but as you always say, "Find something you like and use it often."
