Re: Batmobile Show Car Makeover - Pictures & Comments
The Batmobile sees a lot of wear and tear as it's a daily driver and the SoCal environment is a relatively harsh environment as it relates to finish care.
First we're going to do a couple of test spots, for perspective, here's a shot of the rear of the car and we'll be doing at least two test spots to dial in a process for the single stage paint on this car.
This is the kind of swirling that is throughout the finish of the Batmobile
Here's Nick wrapping some tape around the rubber grommet of the radio antenna to make clean up easier and to prevent getting any product on the rubber gasket or in the cracks and grooves in this area.
After claying these areas we did two test spots, one on each side of the Turbine. On one side we did,
M105/Rotary Buffer/W8207
M80/G110/W-8006
On the other side Nick did,
M105/Rotary Buffer/W8207
M82/G110/W9207

Re: Batmobile Show Car Makeover - Pictures & Comments
Just got back from a day at the Batcave and all I can say is WOW and Ouch. The car is WOW(ing)?, everything works, bat phone, lots of cool parts and toys. Ouch for the paint job though. If I heard correctly from Mike, the paint is a Single Stage Enamel on fiberglass panels. Paint is maybe 6-7 years old. Lots of swirls and very scratch sensative. Test panels showed that M105 by Rotary with a yellow Polishing Pad followed by #82 by DA with a yellow Polishing pad worked best. Upon further testing and 2 hours of many different combinations, Mike, Nick and Jason Rose went to town with PRC on a Wool Pad and I followed behind with a DA and #82. Further on and after doing about half the car Mike switched to 105 again with a Wool Pad and so did Nick.
Were not going for totally flawless finish as this is a daily driver.
Well I need some sleep so I can make the drive back up there tomorrow.
See everybody tomorrow!!

Re: Batmobile Show Car Makeover - Pictures & Comments
Meguiar's Customer Care Center is in the building across the parking lot from our main building, meaning we can look down into the garage......sorry, BatCave..... and see Mike, Ryan and Nick working on the Batmobile during the day. It's a bit surreal, but when the work day ends today the fun will start in earnest!!Michael Stoops
