  • Got the bird back today!

Actually got it back last night, but it's all the same.

35 days ago, we destroyed 'yet another' 5spd transmission just before the 1/8th mile mark at Capital Dragway in Maryland ... and towed the car to Jason's house (shop owner) because there was no room at the F-Body Central.

Note that there are other V6 cars breaking a gear here or there by exceeding the maximum hp rating of the Borg-Warner/Tremec T5 transmission ... but we're breaking WHOLE TRANSMISSIONS!

Hopefully the trans-popping will stop now that we have a "try and break it" manual-shift automatic from Chesapeake Transmission. CSI provided a 34-3600 stall which is taking some getting used to .... but then, heck the whole set up is taking some getting used to.

Shifting? .. without a clutch? Wait - driving without a clutch?!

Oh, and no speedometer for some reason.

    Nice, lol.

Last time I was at Capitol (last summer) someone's car caught on fire and boogered up the whole evening. I managed to pull off a halfway decent time before it happened though, so I left happy.

Good luck with the new trans.

Captial has got to be my favorite track.. never mind that the boards don't light up the whole way, I still love it!

If you run out of constructive things to do this Friday or Sunday ... come on out.

We're going to be attempting to launch two shop cars in to the record books.

Ahh, my car's set up for corner carving now. I couldn't launch the thing out of a pit of shoe goo. I'd be lucking to break into the 12's the way it is, so there's no point in bothering.

I need to take the original wheels and slap some BFG drag radials on them one of these days.

I remember my drag racing days

            I have a 92 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 AWD. I never broke a tranny - but I guess at 13.5 you wouldn't.

My friend ran 11.4 w/o nos on his Galant. fast cars.

My other friend in his Galant broke the tranny =) a few 150lb zipties bumper to bumper towed us home w/ no problems.

good luck w/ the sport! It was too expensive for me

Capitol's closed for the weekend.. serious illness in the track owner's family.

Will be out at MIR on Sunday.

Lame teaser vid (right-click save please)

-- good vid for anyone interested in hearing this car run.... otherwise, some shots of the guys ... and the shop.... not much else.

              And now off to detail!

              woooooooosh

That's too bad. 75/80 had that last season. Closed a lot. I think they're gone for good now. Pity, because I raced there as a teenager (and it's a 10 min drive from where I live).

Looks like Capitol's my new home track.
