Best brake lube?

Im looking to find the best brake lube/grease for calipers and slide pins. My brakes are starting to "click", I regrease and they stay quiet for a little while, then start to do it again. So if anyone knows of the best synthetic high quality lube / grease I would appreciate it.

Sta-Lube has been my choice for quite some time. Actually, many products from their line seem to work well and are priced well.

Speaking of clicking, what exactly do you mean? Is this the chattering when you apply the brakes or is it more of a loud click/clunk at lower speed stops?

Its a click-click-click. Its the slide pins clicking due to poor lube breaking down and not providing a smooth slide for them. The sta-lube stuff works ok, but it seems to break down and wash away.

We have a local company here in SoCal called NEO that makes a line of synthetic racing lubricants. I use their grease.

(If you happen to have a Dassault Mirage jet fighter and your 30mm Gatling gun needs to be lubed they make the grease for that too.)



You can probably find Mobil 1, Redline or Amsoil synthetic greases close to home.

pc....thanks for that, I thought I would never find that gatling gun grease!

RedSox, I second the Mobil 1 if this will work...just be careful, IIRC many vehicle mfrs. call out a specific grease for the caliper pins.

I think I am going to go with 100% Silicone Brake Lube. Seems to be the right stuff for my application.

That might also be depending on what kind of brake pads do you use? Rotors(often need to be resurfaced)? I had that problem on my other car - when I bought brake pads from Auto Zone - and they were not the cheapest the store carried - but weren't ceramic either. Then I bought pads from a dealer - they come WITH grease already. I never heard that sqeeky noice again.
