I don't understand why someone complains if someone posts too much esp on a forum like this where people offer eachother good advise. I read much more than I post here, and I enjoy posts from both you and RB, so keep them comin.

Looks like we are finally forecasted for some decent weather for a bit so I hope to get it cleaned up and get some better pics taken.

The pic shown was before I cleaned it up and started the whole 5-Step deal. That was just a couple of coats of NXT. I have since played around with quite a few polishes on it, as well as the glazes, sealants and waxes and now I " think" I have just about taken it as far as I am going to be able to get it until I get the new Makita broken in on the beater and can play with that on it come spring. Really looking forward to that.

                Hi Jeff,

As of today, you are in the 29th position of the top 30 posters.

                http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/mem...ers&perpage=30

Having a high post count is only a small indicator of a member's contributions to a forum, (any forum), as a high post count doesn't indicate the quality of a person's posts. Some people post a lot of [i]Me Too posts just to drive their post count up to create the illusion of being a knowledgeable member when in reality, a majority of their posts add little to the conversation.

Nothing wrong with Me Too posts... I even do it, it's just important to keep things such as post counts in their proper perspective, that is a high post count doesn't automatically indicate a person is a certified expert just like a low post count doesn't indicate the person is a Newbie.

Since you've joined, I've watched your progression from asking a lot of questions to now answering a lot of questions. You have become a valuable member of this forum, and I'm sure other forums as well on the topic of proper surface care.

Your posts are always well thought out with good grammar, spelling and format. Below is a thread you started that is very interesting as it shows the real world effects this forum has had on you when you're in the real world and off the computer, (The Cyber World).

Forum used as a reference tool.

I use the analogy of the forum being a tool, or resource almost everyday when behind the scenes via e-mail or phone calls I explain to people what our forum is. I also position it in this manner during all of our clinics as some people that attend don't realize the value of all the information contained within these cyber walls until they are given a little tour of the place. Once they see how the for forum works, where to locate the information they're looking for, it's like a light bulb has been turned on and they now understand what the forum is for and how to use it to find the information they're looking for.

Simply put, people use the "Internet" for 3 things

                1) To find information

                2) To make a purchase

                3) To have fun

Usually, in the case of the third item, they do the first item first, then do the second item on the list, and then the third. This is just a generalization as I know there are many other things people use the Internet for, but I think a majority of what people do with the Internet can fall into one of the above three listed things.

When it comes to discussion forums, over the years I've noticed that people join forums for one of three reasons,
                • * To ask questions in an effort to learn more about proper car care.
                  * To help others with their experience, knowledge and expertise.
                  * To cause problems and strife.

An example of this can be found by mrnewguy on this page as after his inappropriate post into a thread created for the members of CorvetteForum that attended a class here, he decided to try to stir up some trouble.

Reason 3 - To cause problems and strife.

I called him on it and we've never seen him again.

You on the other hand, as well as a great majority of our members have joined our forum for the first two reasons and it's people like you and our other forum members that makes Meguiar's Online one of the best, most friendly forums to be a member of. It's also my privilege to interact with all of you on a daily basis and even though many of us have never met and will probably never meet, we do share a common interest, commradery, and friendship. For which I am thankful.

"Ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is a textbook example of a 'me too' post!"

Actually I've been permabanned from two forums for 'posting too much' -- people ignored the fact that I was right on top of factual, helpful information, and said I was "stealing the fire" of the other members who "never got the chance to answer before I had it covered."

                      WTF.

Having a high post count ..........
Thanks for the thoughts Mike, and everyone. With the advice I have received from the members of this forum I have been able to do things that I never previously had the skill to achieve or even think were achievable. My vehicle now seems to be one of the local attention getters. I quite often get "Hey. I saw you the other day at the redlight" from total strangers. I used to be the wash it and wax it every so often guy and my definition of detailing was breaking out the vacuum cleaner. The folks here that have helped me directly as well as indirectly through the history of posts put up before I joined have freely offered advice that gave me the confidence level to achieve the things I never new were possible before.

I don't have the experience under my belt to answer alot of stuff. But over the past couple of months I have really learned alot and have applied all of it. I experiment simply because I can.

One thing I have learned here that even the stuff I thought I had a "GREAT" grasp on can't be improved upon. After posting and mentioning them, someone would always chime in with something I had not thought about. If I had not put my initial thoughts on the table, nobody would have been able to help me improve my previously "unimprovable" method.

Case in point. I was under the impression it was a good idea to flip my bonnet inside out about 1/2 way through buffing off of an LSP. Made sense to me. Have a nice clean side for each half. I had kicked this out to someone in response to a post and someone else, (SRI can't remeber who) chimed in and pointed out that any possible contaminates that may have been on my 7006 pad are now exposed to the finish. Well, boom, had I not brought that up I would not have received such excellent advice.

In a nutshell I have been freely given alot of help from the folks on this forum. But I only got this help by putting thoughts on the table.

And yes, I do have alot of time to kill. Having a Security Job with interent access and nothing to do gives one plenty of time for detailing in the dark and fiddling on the net.
