  • Northern States Winter Storage

I would like to find some sites that describe the best methods/steps for winter storage. Thanks beforehand for any recommendations.

All I do is wash, change oil, unhook the battery, fill the tank and add stabil, and crack the windows.

      Vipersdad,

There is some good information at Miatanet. I'll find the page and link it. A couple things I know:

The obvious is disconnect the battery, or hook it to a mini-trickle charger, like a solar panel charger. Fill the gas tank and add a fuel stabilizer. PLUG YOUR EXHAUST PIPES; rodents will make nests in them!

Inlate your tires to the maximum (helps prevent flatspotting). DO NOT put your car on jackstands; this will put undue stress on the suspension and front end parts. They were made to have the car resting on the ground.

I've stored my car for the winter by doing all these things, and I've stored it by turning the key off Dec 1st and back on March 1st, and truthfully I don't think there's a difference. So I bought 4 snows and now I drive it on nice days in the winter.

As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.
