  • Why is it??

Why is it that the cleaner you keep your ride the more people want to look for flaws?

I keep my truck looking pretty good, thanks to the help of many of you folks. But, alot of folks will come over and compliment the way it looks. While doing so I notice they will bend over a tad and get as close as possible and "try" to find flaws and are quick to point them out. Of course they do this AFTER having put their hands on it.

I have one little rock chip just above my grill that has gotten more attention than OJ driving down the freeway in the Bronco. If they would look really close they would probably note the fingerprint on the rock chip from the last egghead to point it out.

I need to engineer a little remote controlled device that will shoot water out of that little rock chip. Give them a good squirt in the eye the next time they point at it.

I know what you are saying... Just go over to their vehicle and start pointing. I would guess you wouldn't have to get that close to see flaws, some flaws you can see from across the parking lot.

I have this one chip on my drivers door, right on the edge. It happend in the winter when I was driving next to an 18 wheeler on the expressway and a bunch of rocks shot up. One rock hit right on the edge and well, chipped the paint about 1/8-1/6 on inch. Everyone and their mother says "Ohh Mike, Looks like your slipping, how can you have that on your truck!". The problem is that I can't stand the way touch up paint looks, so would rather see the little chip. Plus down the road I am getting a full on sweet paint job so.

when the cars spotless all you can see is a white spot about the size of the "O" key on the computer

i know what you mean about touch up paint Ranger72 it can make it look alot worse, but as the cheapest quote i've had is $150 it'll have to wait

I think its because they know that it will bother you more if they can spot something. Its like finding a ding on a banged up jeep versus finding one on a brand new Ferrari. A newly detailed car automatically SEEMS like a nicer car, even if its a normal family car. So people think its more important that you have a scratch here and there, because your car looks so nice.

Oh J333, I hate when people do that. It's as if they walk around your car just looking for a flaw. Once they find it, they usually stop right there to discuss what happened.

Regarding the pebble chips, the front of my car looks like a strainer it has so many tiny chips! Dealer owes me for a rust spot the size of a pencil eraser that popped-up behind my sunroof earlier this year, so i'll just do a full paint job in the spring.
