The viewsonic crt monitors are very good monitors. I've had 3 so far and only one took a dump, but it was used when I got it. Some are even multi sync and I can use my 21" to play arcade boards through it instead of an arcade monitor which tend to be pricey.

I prefer the bigger picture as you get more detail but I do have to scroll a little to see it. No big deal though.

I use a 17" HP monitor set at 1024x768 for my internet computer.

Well, I'm up to a 17" monitor now at 1024 x 768 resolution. MOL looks much better now than before.

To ease eye strain, I am using 85hz refresh rate, but my scrolling is not quite the same as it used to be.

It's a little unpredictable at times, and I've tried to play with the mouse settings and the smooth scrolling option in IE6.

Does a bigger screen, increased resolution, and higher refresh rates tax the graphics/video card more than lower video numbers will?......If so, then maybe that's the problem.

        19" CRT here.

        I run at 1280x1024 @ 75Hz max.

Something I cant stand is when people run their monitor's refresh rate at 60Hz. Very Eye Straining!

After finding the resolution you like, go back into the display properties Advanced again and your refresh rates should be under a monitor tab. Refresh rates between 75 and 100Hz are nice on the eyes.
