  • Sorry but I must vent here

    Hey eneryone,

I belong to many car related sites ,from detailing to car specific.
When I posted pic of one of the last details that i did on another site I was getting numerous complaints about the pic quality. They would start out with " I wish you had a better camera . But the car looks good." or " nice car but the pics are over exposed alittle" Now I come here and I get no complaints at all about pic quality I just get comments on how the ride I just detailed looks wet, deep, shiny, you get the picture. It is not my fault that I don't have the 200,000 a year job and can go bye a new digital camera every year when the companies come out with the next best thing. I have two small children ages 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 and as any parent knows they come first from food to diapers to your time with them. So my detailed car pics my not be perfect so BLEEPING what if they look good to me I post them If they don't I never post them even if I think they are c---. My camera is a 3.2 megapixel fuji that was given to me as a christmas gift from my parents 4 years ago. It does the trick for me .

    End of my RANT

Hey moderators if this is posted in the wrong place go ahead and move it

    Hey Andrew,

Thank you for your post. Your comments I feel reflect why so many feel comfortable posting on MOL. We care more about the paint's finish/interior and your satisfaction with your effort than anything else! It does not matter what the brand of the car is or its color etc. All that matters is that you are happy with the results! And...if we are able to assist you in achieving that goal, we are extremely happy!!

It's really hard to get pictures to tell a story on a detail. Most "reflection" shots could be taken with a dirty car and still look amazing.

The best ones are the sun shots taken where the reflection from the swirls can be see, followed by an "after" shot at a similar angle, or a "side by side" showing swirl reduction.

I have a Fuji 602Z. I've had it since 2003 and I use it on the lowest resolution, because I never print pictures. Still my shots come out pretty good.

Try setting everything to "automatic", check and make sure you have them set that way anyhow. Don't use any editing other than to resize them; sharpening and brightening are both pretty obvious.

      Good luck with them,

      Tom
As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.

This is one of the few forums that I post/read that very few care about what car you drive. It's all about the finish. A guy with a Cavalier gets as much respect as a guy with a Corvette, where else would you find that?

Maybe more respect if the Corvette looks like crud...

But a very good rant.... it is all about just doing your own best, for your own goals.

            I know what you mean.

I've been to other forums where they tend to be very abrasive and judgmental.

Understandable! If you think that your car looks great, take those pics and post'em. I may be new to this forum as well, however I haven't read any negative feedback.
At least you have a camera, I don't have squat! I cannot afford one!
              Keep post'n the pics bro.

I have an old camera myself. A kodak easy share from 5 years ago or so.

Recently i have started to gain an interest in shooting better pics, and using a better camera. Im almost 40, so these weird things are bound to happen hahaha.

New technology is usually only bought by the people with $$ or the enthusiast. Just like computer components. My video card is 500 bucks, but i dont need it at all.

Technology only goes so far. I'd be willing to bet someone can take a great car shot with an old black and white camera, better than some yahoo with a brand new one.
