  • I'm starting to get that "Look" from neighbors

... along with a few comments too.

Them: "Didn't you just wash that thing last week?"
ME: Yup once a week, twice if it get dirty again. (with what must seem to them a glasses eyed grin on my face)

Them: "You're not putting another coat of wax on it are you?"
ME: Nope this is detailer to get the dust off so I can put the second coat of wax on, and then I'll ...
Them: At this point I'm sure I sound like an adult in one of those Charlie Brown cartoons.." Waaah waaah wah wah waaah!" ... their eyes start glazing over and the head starts to shake.

    and my Fav!!!

Them: "You must be CAR CRAZY or something, you you lay awake thinking of when you can wash or wax it again?"
    ME: Well.....

I get that look too.... Everyone starts to peek out the windows. Good thing is there is someone about 3 houses away that washes his 2 cars just as much as I wash my 1 vehicle. So.... I am not the only one to talk about in the neighborhood.

At least you guys don't have the street people trying to offer you a hand at washing & buffing.

          Their detailing pros you know.

Amen to that!! I must have a clean car. Why would anyone want to drive a dirty one?

they said "are you going to take as good a care of your wife as you do your car?". LOL

My nieghbors had some pretty funny looks on my face when I was washing my car at around 32 degrees (F). I have figured out a way to keep my hose from freezing up. I have this old titan brand air paint sprayed that a normal hose would attatch to, so after using the hose I connect it and blast all of the water out of it. With no water to freeze, over night when its 15, Its great the looks I get. (Just not If I can figure out how to keep the water from freezing on my truck)!

That is great...it is always good to keep the neighbors wondering. You should mow the lawn in your Halloween costume sometime. After that, they won't think the constant detailing is all that strange.

One of my neighbors says that if my car were to ever get dirty (no chance), it would still probably look better than his after he washed it.

I know exactly what your saying...

I live in the front of the neighborhood and everyone who drives by is always eyeballing me when I am cleaning my car. I get coments all the time from the ones I know. I think the one I hear most is, "your going to wash the paint off of that car." I got caught taking pics of my car and had to hear about that one....

                        To each his own....

I get "the look" as well. I start washing right as the sun starts to set, becasue my house doesn't block it at any time during the day.

They look over, make eye contact with me as i'm sitting in a puddle cleaning my wheel wells and then quickly look away and murmor to each other about how i'm obsessed.

Also, I get the opposite of the "paint off the car" quote. Every time people see me polishing they tell me that if my truck gets any blacker, its gonna start sucking people into it like a black hole or something.

and my mom always acts suprised when i come in from waxing because my arms are still attatched to my body. she says "i swear, one day you're arms are just gonna fall off from all of that polishing" I just smile, look at her, and then look at my truck with a huge grin on my face. heheh

WARNING! Eye protection must be worn when looking at my car in direct sunlight. Can cause temporary blindness.

Ahh, I'm glad to see I'm not alone in this world!!

I get comments from friends, family, and neighbors all the time. I think by now they know how I am and just do it to bust my chops.

                              The best is:

"Hey, what kind of wax are you using on that?"

"Actually, I'm not waxing, I'm cleaning, then I'll polish, THEN wax it."

"Cleaning? Isn't that what washing the car is for?"

At this point, I get into paraphrasing the 5 step process. The more I talk, the more confusion I can see on their faces.

I actually get mad at people when I see them doing things like waxing right after washing or letting the car "air dry." They wonder why I get mad since it's not my car. To them, it's simply a mode of transportation
