I thought I was the only one who had a bad weekend. I hit a bump and lost my ignition module, luckily i was almost home though. Gald to hear you were able to get going again and the water didn't do too much damage.

      Your thoughts on this Tim?
I would not do it. Some sensors are VERY sensitive to chemicals and may give false readings to the computer. If this is the first time this has happened, it is unlikely it will happen again. But I would avoid spraying the engine with water.

My problems really started after the local mechanic (Not my 1st choice BTW) replaced the water pump.

He had to remove the timing belt, in order to gain access to the WP! So he decides that I need a new timing belt, which is ok by me, considering that coolant might have shortened the life of the old one.

But after I test drive the car, I notice that the spark timing, and the valve timing is off! So I take the car back for adjustments, "but the valve timing will have to be adjusted another day", the man says.

"Ok, I'll wait until then", I say.

The family wants to drive to the airport to watch airplanes later on, so I oblige and take them.

On the way back, I all of a sudden hear noises like belts tearing into! I pull over to take a look, and I notice that I have no main drive belt, or AC belt either, and it is getting dark, and I'm in the boondocks of sorts (Vacant land & dwellings bought by the airport).......A good 20 miles from home I estimate.

After a friend arrives to take the family home, I use his flashlight to take a better look, and I notice that the water pump pulley is barely hanging on by one bolt. It seems that the mechanic forgot to tighten them!

A man with a roll back wrecker happens to show up about that time (Impeccable timing !), and offers to take me home for $60.00.......Not a bad price in Charlotte.

A few days later, the mechanic gets the car fixed, but he forgets to plug in the AC cable this time, and the car runs bad again!

I get that plugged in after another visit (Don't know how I missed finding that wire myself ), and later on I hit the puddle and the engine dies!

The mechanic reimbursed me for the towing, and replaced the belts at his expense, but I'll never use his services again, if I can help it!

Wow, that is completely nuts. That mechanic must have been really busy...or really incompetent. Hopefully you can get it back to normal again and all of the little kinks worked out. That was really cool that a tow truck happened to roll by too, I had to wait about an hour for mine to come, but at least AAA paid for it. Good luck, hope all goes well.

This mechanic has built a good reputation over the years as a motor rebuilder, and he is a decent person that I've known for 23 years, but I think his specialty is working on older cars.

I was polite to him, and tried not to be rude about it, but maybe age is catching up to him.

His wife died of cancer earlier this year, so who knows what was going through his mind at the time.

And someone up above must have been looking out for me concerning the tow truck.
