Being a newer PC user (about 2 months) I tend to over-tape a bit until I get the hang of it. I was in a rush and made a mess the first couple times and now I still have light stains on my tonneau cover. Does anyone know how to get that off? I have GC trim detailer and tried applying with a terry and a toothbrush, but still couldn't get all of it.

I use #39 vinyle and rubber cleaner for and stains on trim ect. you will need to follow it up with some sort of dreessing though. Gold class trim detailer will do that just fine.

The GC Trim Detailer can help some, but the tape works best......Even though it's (Tape) a pain to apply in some places.
        Hey RB,

Actually, I try and avoid the trim when I use the DA!

It's too sticky. When you try to remove it, it can sometimes tear away instead of lift off taking longer to remove completely. If you leave it on too long it can be very difficult to remove.

It is all about the light purple painters tape. Nothing like having the owner walk out and see his baby covered in purple tape. That and I got it cheap because the guy at the paint store said no one was buying it.

Have you tried the tan 3M painters tape?.........It does well for me.

Steer clear of the bargin brand tape though.

The difference in the two, is that the blue tape can be left on for longer periods of time than the tan tape can. If you remove the tan tape the same day as you put it on, then I don't think you will have a problem with removal, as long as you keep the car out of the sun.

Buy you a roll of it and see how it does........If you have problems with it, then you can always go back to the blue tape.

Look for the 3M brand (Scotch).

I try to tape off as often as possible.

The question always arises "how do you get wax off your trim"....my answer to this is to "NOT" put it there in the first place.

The extra few minutes it takes to tape off saves a lot of time later down the line trying to remove it from the trim moldings.

Not to Hi-Jack this thread but if you use the Meg's Trim Detailer (awesome stuff) use it after you are done....tape will NOT stick to a prepped molding with Trim Detailer on it.

I agree, but I've seen times when it took a good 10 to 11 hours to finish a detail, and taping off trim can cut into your time.......I don't really care for it, but it's almost necessary if you are using a buffer.

While preparing for tomorrow's detailing clinic, I've snapped a photo of the masking being done on of the member's car for full extreme makeover.

When I face M83 product splatter, somehow those splatters will damage the clearcoat by creating tiny bumps. May I know why does this happen?
