  • Sloooow blinkers

After too much polishing with NXT my blinkers have slowed down considerably. I've checked everything and cannot find the problem. I sent an email to Meguiar's and their response was:

"There is no way that NXT would cause this slowdown. I'm willing to bet that you have run out of blinker fluid. Not too many people know that the blinker fluid should be changed every 30,000 blinks or once a year, whichever comes first. I would check the blinker fluid reservoir and top it off with some fresh blinker fluid and that should get you blinking faster again."

So now I'm tearing the Elky apart looking for the blinker reservoir. Anyone have a clue as to it's location and what weight blinker fluid I should use?

Also, be sure and replace the flux capacitor.

I change my blinker fluid when I swap out my muffler bearings.

Be sure to keep the left and right side fluid from mixing.

people do not know but you can also put normal gasoline for the blinker fluid

Sure, gas will work, but if you have any leaks in the blinker reservoir and any vapors happen to waft out and settle near the blinker contacts, ka-boom. It may be a lot more expensive but I'll stick with blinker fluid, thank you very much.

In fact, I like to go extra high-perf and use aviation blinker fluid. It's not like you use an awful lot. It's worth the higher cost.

When you go to the aircraft maintenance supplier to get it you should also also pick up a bucket of prop wash.

Oh, I would never use aviation-type blinker fluid. As it may make the left blinker illuminate red and the right one green, instead of the automotive blinker fluid which is made for the amber illumination.

That's one of the advantages of aviation blinker fluid, it's polychromatic.

The same formulation that allows it to work for red, green and white strobes makes it great for amber or red blinkers on cars. (note: it can also be used by law enforcement in blue strobes.)
