Very similar to most mountain roads here in Costa Rica....except for the lack of potholes....

The RX-7 Club had a meet there back in April... 50 something rotaries, all hauling *** down the road.
I really wish my 85 RX-7 was running... it would have been PERFECT for the T.O.T.D. Fully built to SCCA rules. Suspension, cage, brakes, wheels, tires. It was DONE. but the motor went poopy 2 weeks before the Dragon.Leave a comment:

It is adjacent to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park... not a bad spot for a vacation!

Deal's Gap/Tail of The Dragon is a mecca for motorcyclists and sports car enthusiasts. Wife and I are planning several days there in mid-July with my Miata. I'll be sure to followup.
It is adjacent to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park... not a bad spot for a vacation!

I just found out about it myself a few weeks ago, and I live in western NC!
A trucker friend of mine passed through there recently coming from Tennessee to NC. He had no idea what he was in for, until it was too late. He told me that he was so scared that he was shaking going around curves. He had to take both lanes in order to navigate the sharp corners & switchbacks.
Fortunately, his trailer was empty, so that helped a little he said.
