I dont post much either, but I do read the site daily when Im at work. All the questions I have I can find them by searching or already being talked about. From the posts I have made, I was real happy with the quick responses and when you try someones recommendation it results in great success!!!

Mike,
You need one more option in the poll. I voted for an average because I didn't have another choice as to why I visit other boards. I really like this board and Meguiar's products. I don't however use Meuiar's exclusively. That being said I visit the other boards because I feel that for non Meguiar's products there is more information on other sites.*No Applause, Just Throw Money!*

IMO, it is really top notch.
I think a big part of it is because it is MEGUIAR'S SPECIFIC. It presents two things, both of which are known:
1) How to prep cars. This is simple. There is a way to prep cars, and it is always the same. Not that it's simple to actually do, but the knowledge base is stable, so the advice is accurate.
2) How to use Meguiar's products to get the best results, or conversely, how to get the best results from Meguiar's products. Those are different, but both are directly addressed by the simple truth that the manufacturer is the best place to get this information.
Those things are directly a major part of the site's value, but neither would be of any use at all if the information wasn't presented in a timely, useful and easily understood manner. Mike, Tim, and the other moderators and forum members give accurate information quickly and in a way that makes it easy to go into the garage and apply it.
But EVEN THAT isn't enough. There is one more thing that takes everything else... the access to information about prep, and the access to information about Meguiar's products, and the fact that there is someone there quickly, and that that person has the ability to communicate the information... and that is the infectious enthuisiasm and friendliness that absolutely RULES this place. There are plenty of dry forums that give information. There are plenty of detailing forums you can go to if you want to argue products. But THIS is the place to come to if you want to sit down with your friends and laugh and talk and solve problems.

What's top notch about information posted on this site is the quality of answers from Meguiar's folks. If I have a question about a certain product (Scratch X was a biggie for me last year) I can get a clear, concise answer quickly. Typically, I don't have to wade through a bunch of alternative solutions (especially when I literally have the Meg's product in my hand .. ready to use it).
Some of the other detail oriented sites will have tons of suggestions, but a lot of times it is for an alternative product and I don't really want to rush out and get something else.
I have yet to meet another company more customer oriented than the Meguiar's bunch...great folks all.Card carrying Wax-aholic

This is a great site and a great group of people... it is in fact top notch, this site has helped solve problems both at home and at work. Even better the results you get from the suggestions of MOL members, moderators and Meguiars employees are always right on!
I am very brand loyal if I find a good company, product AND support I stick with it, with the introduction of NXT glass cleaner and new accessories I am at 99% Meguiars products only thing that isn't is my PC7424.
As Totoland Mach said you get answers about the products you ask about not about 10 other products that can do the job.
I only wish that I lived in CA so I could get a chance to meet some of you and visit Meguiars.
Thanks again
Brandon
PS I sure hope the "pull the plug" option is not getting tossed around at Meguiars!

I find this forum invaluable!I've learned most of what I know from MOL. I consult the same posts repeatedly to ensure that I'm doing things correctly. I find Mike Phillips and Tim's posts particularly useful, but there are many other regulars who I trust as well.
I'm with Brandon on this one....please don't pull the plug on MOL!!

I'd make the suggestion to change the labelling on the products to say, "Looking for answers? http://www.meguiarsonline.com", along with the phone number for the regular tech support. The website and forum will grow in direct proportion to how much Meguiar's wants it to grow. Put a sign on the displays in Pep's and WalMart, the site will get traffic. Put it on the cans and bottles and the site will get traffic. The BEST traffic will be those who come through, lurk and search for the answer and leave without ever posting; second best are the "one question" people. Those are the ones you should track. Those of us who are here all the time are here for social reasons; you really want to know who USES the site for solutions.
The cool thing about the forum is that a customer can post a picture of a problem to help get an answer, or Mike or Tim or someone can post a picture of a solution. That clears up a lot of the confusion that happens in a phone conversation.

In addition, you could put a high-visibility banner on Meguiars.com directing people to this site. I know there's already a link there, but make it more visible and clarify what MOL is really about and it's advantages.
One of the the things I like best about MOL is that process is stressed more than product, so even a non-Meguiars product user can get help here. Of course the regulars/staff might recommend a Megs product for the solution but that's mainly because they are most familiar with Megs not because they are trying to "Convert the World." Pretty impressive friendliness for a proprietary site.Last edited by Don; Apr 25, 2005, 03:07 AM.Don

I like it here better than anywhere else because nobody on these forums want to challenage your knowledge or skill level...they want to help increase them! on the other forums I scan for info there is always several individuals that want to bash a product or talk about how only their supplys are the right supplys. yea, maybe I am a meguiars droan, but thats because it's my choice to follow what I believe in. I know there is othe stuff out there, but I get what I want right here and I can always get help when it doesn't go right. ( that's a big thank you to Mike and Tim, and for that matter everyone else one here that posts regularly.)2000
