  • So, like I quit my job last week...

Been there 14 1/2 years. That's a long time for an F&I Manager.

Dispute over bonuses and commissions earned, both sides took a stand, no one backed down. I was right, so I had to quit.

On the plus side, I can afford it, at least for a little while, and I have a reputation as being the best at what I do, and for scrupulous honesty. I'm the same person at work as I am here and elsewhere on the internet, and as I am when I'm outside work (it would be way too hard to remember all the other personas anyhow). I got my first offer for an interview less than 24 hours after having given notice, and I didn't advertise or solicit for it.

I'd like to take May off. I might post some "detail your car" flyers in grocery stores or something, just to see what happens. I'm not healthy enough to actually do it for a living, but it might be fun to earn a mortgage payment at least.

As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.

I was in the car biz for a short time. It was OK.

Anyway from what I read of your posts it appears you have enough products and chemicals to work a few months before reordering.

I would like to try to earn what I make at my real job by detailing. I would hate to have to rely on that though.

Good luck! If you need anything (not that I have much to offer) let me know.

Tom, sorry to hear you had to do that. But it looks like you did the right thing!

After seeing your detailing work, plus your tutorials with the pics, you certainly are good enough to make a career at it! Whether you are healthy enough only you can decide.

Take the month of May off, you deserve it!

I am sure you will find a new job and everything will work out well. Have some fun doing some detailing for a while. It is nice to work outdoors once and a while.

Best of luck in the job search and leisure time! And congrats on making a hard decision to do what you think is right.

Detailing cars for a bit should be fun, and will give you some perspective on whatever you end up doing after that (not to imply you need perspective... you know what I mean ).

Wow, tough break after nearly 15 years. I wish you my best on your ventures in the future. You seem to be a very honest and stand-up kind of guy so I know you will have continued success no matter where the road takes you.
