  • Fiesta Movement (returns!) + Harlem Shake + Black Lights + tattoo? [Video]

Some of you all may remember that in 2009 I was lucky enough to be 1 of 100 individuals that were picked by Ford Motor Company to receive a brand-new Ford Fiesta a year before they would be available in the U.S. I was then tasked with spreading the word about the car via social media through monthly missions over 6 months, and then for an extra 6 months I kept the car as an official "Fiesta Expert," answering consumers directly via Twitter when they asked @Ford about the car.

It was an amazing experience. Truly the time of my life.

And now? Ford asked me to APPLY again as they are doing something similar (Free car, free gas, free insurance) from May 1 through the end of the year with the 2014 Ford Fiesta and Fiesta ST! The cool part? Applications only opened up about 2 weeks ago and you have plenty of time to apply yourself.

Here is my application video for those of you who want a few laughs at my expense (and an idea of the wild and wacky approach you COULD take in your video).

Visit www.FiestaMovement.com for more info or to apply.

Do you get to keep the car? If not it wouldn't be worth it to me. Also, I don't know how to edit videos so I would not be able to submit one; if that's required.

I thought the video was great Mark - well done.

I couldn't hear some of what was being said during the tattooing with all the background noise though.

Be honest, was that a real tattoo?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

So Mark, what happens to that tattoo if you sweat on white sheets????? (bit of an inside joke there, folks!)

You were a great ambassador for the initial Fiesta Movement and Ford would do well to include you in this round, too.

And? Mark brought to a TNOG the Fiesta he had as part of the first round of the Fiesta Movement and I had a chance to drive it. For such a small car it had plenty of room and really good driving dynamics. The ST variant should be a blast. With gas once again creeping up towards $5/gallon here in SoCal it's nice that there options in small cars that aren't just cheap little tin cans that get decent fuel economy, but solidly built little cars that are fun to drive and are actually roomy inside.

              Thanks guys

Not a real tattoo, which was reaffirmed when I was forced to bed with illness before showering... waking up the next day to several imprints of the tattoo on my new white sheets thanks to my fever all night. Oh well, should make for good story-telling...

As of now, it is scheduled to be for 8 months. Free car, gas, insurance, and they send you on all kinds of missions (hot air balloon, race track, etc). It was an experience of a lifetime. Will they let us keep it this time? I am hopeful they will... but they haven't suggested it.

As for the "it's just a Fiesta," having driven one for a year previously, I have to say I can't agree with that. It is a fantastic little car. It out-performed cars with nearly twice the horsepower on an autocross track, and hung (within .75s) of a new Lotus Elise. I have time slips and video to prove it. And that was just the 119 horsepower base model!

This new car will be 197 horsepower and 214 torque with a six-speed manual in a subcompact - it's going to be a hoot!

And yes, I most certainly will bring it to a TNOG. I am hoping for a Molten Orange or Envy Green Fiesta ST (if picked), so it should be a beauty to work on too!

197 hp out of a small car like that will be a real riot.

I'd rater have the Lotus, and it's still a Fiesta.

It does sound like a fun opportunity and great experience. Even though I don't like how the car looks, to get 8 months of free gas makes it worth it. And you will save your regular car of all those miles. Also, you can drive the fiesta extra hard and abuse it a little and detail the car and see how hard/soft the paint is.

Also, you said they haven't suggested that you keep the car but you should just tell them you plan on keeping the car because you did such a great job.

Wait, you would rather have the car that cost 3-4 times as much?! Me too!

But the Fiesta is the most fun car I have ever driven under $30,000. Bar none. I happen to fancy small hatches, personally, so the styling suits me well. I sure miss my truck, but I love a hot hatch too!

Most fun under $30k? No way! I've seen new Mustang GT's for $27k...

^^ Depends what you're into I suppose. I'm guessing that the Fiesta would go through a corner quite a bit quicker than a Mustang!

*Loaded. My bad, should have stipulated. There are a ton of cars you can squeak out stripped down... but as far as getting a car equipped how I would want, the Focus ST and Fiesta ST incredible values in the fun category.

                              Ok now I get it.
After talking to someone about their "commuter" car, I understand the appeal of this car.
I had 3 of the originals in 1980 and really didn't like these all that much. Mainly because the lack of sexapeal, horse power, safety, etc.. So I'm jaded toward this model.
This car, and others like it, just don't have sexapeal so I'll ignore them. But not all cars have to have it to be cool.
I've always had "cool" cars or work trucks and this type of cars never appealed to me. But this would be an awesome commuter car.
So I'm on board but I'd still never own one, well maybe if I had a nine to five or I got if for free.
