My dad taught me what a 45" was, though....I have NEVER seen one...

You mean like when I showed the car to my Son's 2nd grade class some years ago, and when asked what they thought the Record was, one intrepid young man answered, a 'CD.'

Yes, it works, and unless you drive over a roller coaster of a road, the unit's built in dampening keeps the needle from skipping.

I don't remember them looking this fancy.

They used to come in a box that would sit on the transmission hump. Then it became a 4 track player. Then an 8 track and then it went big time with cassettes.

I just saw a touch screen in-dash unit yesterday that played DVD's, radio, satellite, etc. I just audio equipment.

78 records were the big bands. 45's were rock n' roll. 33 1/3 was farout man. lol
The aftermarket units sat on the Transmission Hump. The Chrysler factory units mounted under the Dashboard, and had to be mated with the 'Hi-Way' 'Hi-Fi' Radio that acted as the 'Pre-Amp' for the 'Record Player.' Also, you won't find a schematic, or ANY reference to the aftermarket unit in the 'Factory shop Manual', but you will find the 'Factory Unit' detailed in the Manual

Wow, that really brings back some good old memories. I put one of those in my 1956 Buick Special back in 1966 when I was in high school.
