Hey guys. I got rear ended a week ago, I was sitting at a yield sign at a roundabout and some moron rolled into the back of me at I'd say roughly 10mph. He claims his brakes don't react quickly. I don't think his brain reacts quickly, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, below are a few pictures of the damage. Luckily I had a bottle of Simple Green and some Terry Cloth towels (I only had this because I was "contracted" to do some night cleaning at a shop a few days before they moved) so I was able to get the oil off my plastic from the guy who hit me. What luck huh?? But it's definitely clear that I got the better end of the "deal" here as far as damage goes...
Let me just go on a little speech here to remind each and every one of you, that just like anything else, do NOT take each day you drive your pride and joy for granted. I know a lot of you here are like me, and vise-versa, and we all have our vehicles in near perfect condition, or perfect condition. We take sooo much time and pride in our rides. It only takes one idiot to take away from that perfection we all strive to achieve. I know I only received a bent bumper, but to me, it will NEVER be in the "new" and "original" condition that it was once in. I can only hope I can find a good body shop who will make it look just like it did before the accident. So again guys, enjoy every moment with your ride the way it is now, because you never know...
So my question is, is there any tips you guys can give me for when I go to a body shop? I've been recommended to one that my boss takes his and his wifes car to for any body work. He says they do a flawless job there and from what I see when I look at his Suburban, he isn't lieing. So I think I know where I'll be going, it's just, what do I tell the body shop guys when I take it over there?
To me, if for some reason they want to detail it before they return it, I definitely do NOT want them to do that.
To me, there is absolutely NO reason why they need to repaint anything on my truck.
To me, there is absolutely NO reason why I should have over spray ANYWHERE on my truck when it is returned to me.
I would like a new OEM bumper, not some knock off cheap replacement.
If the hitch needs to be replaced as well, I expect one of equal towing class to be put on.
