  • My Mommy is going to be sooooo proud of me!

Recently I was asked by AOLs Autoblog if I'd be in a segment of their "1001 Car Things To Do Before You Die" I was referred to them by Todd Cooperider of Esoteric Auto Detailing.

After a few phone calls with the producers I was told that I was going to be featured on one of their episodes. I was flattered and super excited.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do or even how to prepare for the shoot. I did take with me some advice Mike Phillips gave me. He said for me to just be myself, and to slow down my speaking so I wouldn't studder or get tongue tied.

We filmed for over 5 hours. I went over nearly everything you would need to know on exterior detailing. It is understandable that so much got cut out but I think they did a pretty good job of "telling the story."

Seems like lots of people that watched it are actually expecting to see how to photograph your car and most of the video is about detailing it instead. The title doesn't represent the bulk of the video content. Maybe they should have recorded a separate episode just for detailing and name it, "How to create a Superior Shine."

You will notice Meguiars G110v2 and the DA Microfiber Paint Correction system in the video.

All in all it was super fun working with Jesse and Patrick and the entire filming crew. I'd do something like this again in a heart beat!

Please click this pic below to be taken to the video page.

Here I am going over the various polishers with Jesse.

In the pic we are filming and I am trying to keep from laughing. It felt weird being in front of the camera and all the fuss.

Of course very soon into the shoot I was relaxed and I had everybody laughing over one thing or another.

Watching Joe with a buffer is like watching Pablo Picasso with a paint brush. Except I don't really get into those weird paintings. lol

Congratulations Joe! What an honor to be chosen. You did a great job and seemed relaxed. So was that your national television debut?

Saw this over on AGO yesterday.

        Again, nice work Joe!

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

"If this were a horse, we'd have to shoot it". Funny, although I can't imagine you've ever given up on a "patient".

Thanks for sharing this behind the scenes look. Congratulations, well done.

Awesome stuff, Joe, and thanks for putting our products in the shots!!! I'll make sure our PR group sees this, too.

Sweeeet! You're a natural in front of the camera!

By the way, what did you use as an alternative to the clay? What kind of a pad was that?

Let me know the PR groups thoughts. Did I do them proud?

It isn't a Meguiars product so I rather not say. Do a little internet searching and you will find it.
