  • Why CroftGateUSA no longer has my business....

    ....and why Meg's does.

    Well guys and gals. I am officially done with dealing with CroftGateUSA. I'm not saying all of their products are bad, in fact Aquanil-X and Quick N' Slick were quite good. However, after dealing with their "Technical Applications Director" I no longer have any desire to give him my business.

    Without diving into this too deeply, I will do my best to explain why. I have always said how much I enjoy Meguiars and their openness to other brands. The same CANNOT be said for this particular person. Almost every time I spoke with him he was insulting and putting down every other product out there. Yes, I know as a business person you have to believe in your product but that does not mean that you should spread false information about other brands just for your gain. For example, I had tested out the compatibilty of UQW with Aquanil-X and told this person that they worked just fine together and that was appealing to me since it would allow me to use my UQW more often (which I adore). I actually tested out a couple products for them but my reviews fell on deaf ears. Well, he went and told customers that UQW wasn't compatible and it caused streaking. No true at all.

    The final straw was when I saw a picture on CroftGateUSA's Facebook page with two Meguiars reps watching. Of course, he took the opportunity to insult Meg's and say they were "scared" and such. Now, you've gotta understand that this guy does not research any competitors and has very little knowledge about detailing in my opinion (ie he didn't know the difference between a DA, rotary and random orbital until I explained it) but I though for sure he would understand that the reasons the reps were there was because Meg's released their own waterless wash. Guess he didn't get that memo.

    And as much as he insults everyone else, if you want to talk about sub par products well, look no further than CroftGateUSA's Mega-Polish. I and numerous other people I have spoken to have found it leaves severe hazing and marring under any use, hand or machine.

    So anywho, the reason I stick with OPT, Ultima and especially Meguiars is because if their positive attitude towards others and thirty constant dedication to giving us a better product.

    Thank and sorry for the rant! I just hope I can save some people the hassle I had of dealing with that company.

    I agree Andy!

    I believe I sent a rant like this Mike Stoops one day about why Meguiars will always have my business and it is true.

    It is true, he has no true detailing knowledge and my reviews also fell on deaf ears. Their loss! Meguiars FTW!!

        OK guys, we are really hesitant to keep this thread alive as it could easily turn into a bashing session. While we certainly appreciate the kind words regarding our products and services we have a very strict forum rule regarding bashing of other products. We have no problem with you giving a negative review about any product, whether from a competitor or from Meguiar's, but we ask that you do it a respectful and honest way.

        Garage Troll, we are NOT saying that you've crossed that line. What we are saying is that we don't want anyone else to do so later in this thread. There is a right way and a wrong way to convey a negative experience with a product, person or company. We just want to make sure every one is mindful of that, and respectful in their remarks.

          We'd like to add that we just took a look at their Facebook page and the image in question. Honestly, we don't blame them for posting it up as it has already generated a lot of buzz on their page. That's fine. We had all sorts of competitors stop by our booth, just like we do every year, checking us out. And we're willing to bet that, just as we peeked in at everyone else's booth, so did everyone else with everyone else!!! Big whoop. It's no different than an NFL team watching films of the competition, or a car company engineer driving another maker's vehicles. It happens all the time.

          We've seen some comments from MOL members on the Facebook page in question and we would ask that you all please be respectful of everyone there. It's their Facebook page, and they've got their fans. Cool by us.

              I want to apologize. I was not thinking last night when I posted this. I apologize.

              I also want to apologize for my negative remarks last night against the person in check here. I won't name him now but he called me and we righted it all out. I was wrong and I understand. I should have sorted things out beforehand with him before taking to the internet.

                No worries guys, it's all good. As a matter of fact, I just got a call from Frank at Croftgate and we had a good laugh about it all - nice guy, too. Just as so many of you are very passionate about Meguiar's, Croftgate has a lot of passionate followers too and both sides will freely defend their favorite. It's really no different from Chevy, Ford and Dodge guys waving their respective flags and showing their passion. We just know from experience how these things can go sideways if left unchecked, and we won't let that happen. Otherwise, this is all water under the bridge.

                  Those croftgate guys have some nice colorful products......but I'm 90% faithful to Megs....eventually I will use up my 2 gallons of ONR and my Mother's claybars.
