It's a great product, don't get me wrong, and I know everyone loves it, and I like it too because it does give great results, but the dusting is really holding me back. Especially with the convertible top. I had VERY MINOR dusting issues with UC when I tried it. Some dust got on the top and didn't go away for weeks, even after a couple washes. If sheer quantity of dust from 205 gets on the top, I'm gonna freak out. One reason why I bought UP was because it's more user friendly. I had barely any dusting at all when I used it. The extra cut from 205 is tempting, though. Maybe I'll give that a go on a polishing pad at speed 4 and hit it with UP on a finishing pad at speed 3. That sound ok?
Dusting with M205 just sounds very bizarre to us. We know you're humidity levels are much higher in Jersey than here in SoCal and we can buff all day long with M205 and not get enough dust to make a gnat sneeze. As in zero. In all honesty, I can't say I've ever seen M205 dust at all, and we use it all the time around here - can't even tell you how many people have been through TNOG sessions and have seen it in use, with zero dust. As a fellow cloth convertible top owner I certainly understand the desire to stay away from a dusty product, but it's never even been a tiny concern for me.

Not sure what's going on with M205 when you've used it, but something just sounds very wrong here. What pad were you using it, what speed on the tool, how long did you work it?

I have had some dusting issues with 105 on hot humid days, but not with 205. I have used it with both a PC XP7424 and a GG6.

Dusting with M205? My thought is that product has been allowed to dry on the foam pad? When scratches are gone I might suggest M07 ( glaze to give the paint that wet and deep look ) then the wax of your choice.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. Yeah, I know, everyone thinks I'm looney when I tell them I have dusting issues with M205. I've tried all the appropriate techniques to prime the pad and keep it clean during the process and work small sections...no dice. It's obviously my fault because no one else has these issues but I just can't seem to correct it. Mike, I've only used 205 with a megs 8207 pad. I'm thinking about giving it a shot on one of my smaller LC polishing or finishing pads. The only problem is, I only have 1 blue and 1 red. I'm afraid the blue won't be aggressive enough and the red seems to be ONLY for LSP.

Does M205, speed 4, on a LC polshing pad (green probably), follwed by UP (or M07) on a finishing pad with speed 3 or 4 sound ok? I still have some M07 left but I haven't used it in a very long time, like years. Is that a problem?

On the dusting issue.....did you keep your M205 in the garage during the winter.....and it possibly froze? That may cause issues. Just a thought, not knowing when you got your M205.

We don't think you're looney - you're experiencing what you're experiencing, but none of us seem to be able to duplicate it. It's just so strange to hear of M205 behaving this way. We've used it on W8207 and W9207 pads, on LC crimson and white pads, in really hot and dry conditions (and if you've never been to the South West you can't really appreciate single digit humidity - you can literally watch your back yard turn brown in a day) and in cooler more humid conditions. We've buffed until it's almost gone, and we've seen people on Thursday Nights over use it. But we haven't seen it dust. Now M105 we've seen dust to an almost annoying level at times - not always, but some times.

So, your pad choices should not be causing this, and from your other comments regarding pad priming, cleaning, etc it doesn't sound like you're doing anything really out of the ordinary. Have to admit, we're a bit stumped here.

Yeah, I definitely understand, Mike. I think we may be able to chalk it up to my most-likely poor DA technique (i.e. arm speed, pressure, etc.) I'm gonna give it a go with 205 then UP and I'll check back with the results. I'll give it a shot probably on Saturday. Thanks for everything, guys!
