E3 Expo, the annual video game conference and show took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center this week and the folks with Forza 4 had a launch party on the upper level of a nearby parking garage. Meguiar's sponsored the event (yeah, we know, you can't actually wax a digital car) as did AlpineStars, Pirelli, Red Bull and Top Gear - there was even a taped video address from Jeremy Clarkson.
Tommy Kendall, multi Trans-Am series champion, hosted the event. We brought in a team comprised of RJ deVera, Mike Pennington, Derek Bemiss, Joseph Thomas and myself to prep and maintain the cars during the event. There weren't a lot of cars to deal with, but quality overcame quantity here! All of these cars represent cars available in the game.

What's that orange car in the background? Why, it's a Gumpert Apollo.

What's that copper colored Camaro in the background? Why, it's "Bad Penny", the custom 'Maro set up for road racing.

This Spyker C8 Spyder looked gorgeous in bright metallic orange.

And yes, that's a Koenigsegg CCX in the background

This is the LMP1 Aston Martin that Lucas Luhr and Klaus Graf are currently running in the ALMS.

Here's Rhys Millen's 500-hp Hyundai Veloster rallycross beast.

The main stage during set up. Travis Barker of Blink-182 played later in the night (much later, we were already gone since we had to be back in the office at 7:30 the next morning!).

This was the huge gaming console set up for the driving contest. They set up Top Gear's "Star in a Reasonbly Priced Car" segment where contestants got to run virtual laps in the current Kia c'eed used on the show. The Dunsfold Aerodrome track used by Top Gear was faithfully reproduced in the Forza 4 game.

Meguiar's stickers go on the cars.

This crazy BMW X6M was customized by Mansory.

The Mercedes SLS wasn't the only gullwing in the house.

Some cool cars down on the street level, too.

All done and ready for the party as guests start to arrive.

Sponsors wall.

AlpineStars brought a current Michael Schumacher Formula 1 driving suit for display, among others.
