  • What luck on Friday the 13th pics!

Hey guys so i know i never said anything but I had my 03 mach 1 up for sale and I sold her. Just was too worried when i drive her around other cars been in too many close calls when it was parked where people park super close to your door and just could not fully enjoy it because i worried when it was sitting in a parking lot it may get keyed. so i finally sold it for 15k payed off all my debt and now debt free and so i have some money to play with to fix up my dart some more since it died from a complete electrical meltdown. But i was cruising craigslist on friday the 13th after i sold my mach 1 and found a 1971 mach 1 for $500 dollars i know it does not sound like a good car but i see potential and just to save a car from rusting away. It needs a ground up resto has bad rust in the driver quarter panel and floor pans but its great everywhere else and it has 29k original miles!!! I was shocked when i was handed the original 1971 pink slip and it was stopped being registered in 1975 so a four year old car sat in the same place for 25 years in a corn feild and then a Mustang guy bought it for parts last year and sold it to me today one year later and I towed it home. I have the original Gone in 60 seconds car from the 70's which is a 71 mach 1 in yellow just like this one. Rats made a home in this poor car for a long time. I named her Ellie since she is just like the original Eleanor. The interior is a absolute mess its scary I will be sanitizing the heck out of it before I touch it any futher and plus i just ordered a patch panel for the swiss cheese problem she has.

    Its shocking on the inside.

        Smoking deal!!!!

But I have a strange feeling you'll be ordering a LOT more than just one panel for that car! LOL! She's missing a TON of parts! Hope you're patient enough over the next couple of years to actually finish her, and not dump her like most people do!

GREAT find!!!! Please keep me(us) updated thru the progress!

Oh yeah she is a project for sure, Year one has all the parts i need to rebuild her. This is the worst one the i have bought so far. The T-Bird was never this bad same with the Dart. All my firends think i bought junk and say fix it up a little by putting in new floors and fender and patch for the quarter panel and dump the project. I'm going to try my best to bring her back to life. I already traced down the original egine that was yanked out of her just got to call the guy today hopefully he has it! Since it has not been registered since 1975 what I was told was it fell off the grid at DMV there are a max amount of years until it just falls out of the system so in order for me to get it registered i have to either take it to DMV when its finished or call a police officer and come inspect it when complete to get it registered in cali.

thanks man, yeah today first thing is to get organized for the project first by cleaning out my barn. But in order to move this mustang i have to take the left rear wheel off to get a used tire thats holds air and so far my air impact gun has failed to loosen the lug nuts so.. i have a new craftsman 18 in breaker bar with a cheater pipe on it hopefully it does the trick if not got to drop the rear end out and figure out what to do.

Wow...this is going to one heck of a tough project. That car is in need of so much. But all in all - I will be following along and very anxious to see the end result - should be awesome once you are all done. I would love to do something like that...but I simply don't have the time - or some of the skills. Good luck!

That is quite disturbing. I would definitely be wearing a couple pairs of gloves, etc.

That's good to hear. Of course one of the nice things is that all of trim pieces, lights, etc are easily available from restoration sites.

The body work is going to be a handful on that thing. I know you said that the floor pans are gone - I owned a vintage mustang in the past and a huge issue were the shock towers rusting, along with the frame. As long as the frame is pretty solid and the engine bay is in good shape - the rest can be fixed up, it won't be easy..but it can be done.

So i went down to look over the "rat" problem the so called "droppings" and they actually look like like nuts from a nut tree they all have the same shape and half of then look like they are cracked open like a shell? after looking at it over and over i think they are not rat droppings but proper procaution will be taken. Shock towers are good and frame is good just sheet metal rust.
