So I haven't been on the forums lately, life getting too busy and all, but I'm back now... and I have really missed this community. When I logged back on it had been just over one full year and I hadn't really done any detailing in that time.

Well, a couple of months ago I got my Civic into the middle of a fender bender sandwhich on the interstate and messed up a really nice wax job that I had finally gotten around to. Thankfully no one was hurt, but my car took the brunt and needed to be totalled. I had a difficult time finding a replacement because I needed an inexpensive, high MPG, and family friendly car. So all the little lunch box cars were out and then I found the Chevy Cruze. I drove it once and loved it. I am getting 41 MPG in the Eco model (not a hybrid) with the 6-speed manual, it is a large-compact sedan, and I walked out of the dealer for just over $18k after TTL -- mission accomplished.

All in all, it was not a bad accident and I walked away with a car 13 years newer, with better mileage, and two more doors. AND, it renewed my passion for detailing and made me go out and buy a bunch more car care products. So, I think you'll see me around here a little more often now.

    Pics...

Ouch I really loved this car. I actually drive this car for about a month like this while I was looking for the new car -- a real testament to the durability of Hondas!

Oh, you better believe I am. It is such an upgrade over the last car in every way. Plus, the best part about the whole thing is that I am now the only person who has ever washed this car! You should have seen the look on the saleman's face when I spent 20 minutes looking over every inch of the car and then I asked him not to do any delivery prep. I had already seen a couple of fine scratches from people wiping stuff off the car and I really didn't want any DISO (dealer installed swirl options). Now if there are any problems, it's all on me

        Hello Greg.

        Congrats for the new Car.

Here in Brazil we are waiting for this model. It will be on local market in three to four months.

I personally like this Cruze. If you don't mind, can you tell us how it compares to Corolla and Civic? These two are the most sold in Brazil.

        Regards!

          Rodrigo,
I drove a 1998 Civic HX for 13 years and loved that car, so I really thought that I would just get a new Civic and move on with my life. But after I drove a 2010 8th generation Civic, I was not impressed. Now I can't talk about the '12 model year, but if it is like the prior years... I just don't like the interior at all. It is very austere and wide open -- the dash is huge and the hood is short, so the proportions are all backwards to me.

I didn't drive the Corolla, but I did drive the 2011 Nissan Sentra & Versa, Ford Fiesta, and the Hyundia Elantra, the only one I didn't drive was the 2012 Focus. But based on the cars I drove, the Cruze was by far the best. Best in ride, comfort, features, and overall quality feel. You should definitely put it on your short list of new cars to drive.

            Greg,

Thank you for posting your opinion.
Civic 12 will be in Brazil only in next year. From what I saw in pictures the interior is near the same 08 model.
