  • Polishing a Kitchen Sink

I recently told my wife that I could make our stainless steel kitchen sink look like a million dollars by polishing it with some of my Meguiars products.

Now she's holding me to it and I will have to have a go at it this weekend.

So what should I use? I don't have any form of metal polish, nor do I particularly want to buy any. I've never needed it in the past and probably never will again.

    I have SwirlX, ScratchX, UC, M105, M205, M80, M83, M09 plus a DA.

So what do you guys suggest?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I forgot to mention it's condition. Generally just a bit dull with some scratches.

I'd like to brighten it up and remove as many of the scratches as possible. Thanks guys!

Wont be able to do much with the scratches. #105 will be best of what you have.

What do you get if you are right? If she's holding you to it, you might as well make it worth it.

LMAO, I polish the SS kitchen sink all the time. I got laughed at for doing it...now I get told I should do it when I say I'm bored. I use Mag and Aluminum polish with a PowerBall. I'd give M105 a go!

Thanks for the replies anyway guys.

I will try M105 and see how it goes. I think I'll just apply it by hand as there are not many flat surfaces which would lend themselves to the DA.

Any chance of M105 marring the surface? ...(I guess I'll find out soon enough!)

Not really. Milder than a lot of metal polishes.

Might want to some old terry cloth.

                  Re: Polishing a Kitchen Sink

Well, I polished it yesterday, using M105 and a terry cloth. Just thought I'd share some pics.

                  BEFORE:

                  AFTER:

And the cloth when I was finished - you could tell the M105 was working!

Overall, I'm very happy with the result. As suggested by Murr, it didn't do much with the scratches, but it's certainly a lot brighter and shinier than before. The pictures don't do justice to how noticable the difference is.

... And (most importantly) the Mrs is happy!
