so i buy this car on ebay and the seller not just never comes up with the car
i have to fight for my money to be refunded. iam out of a tremendous ammount of money. and i keep hearing more and more of paypals success stories that sound just like mine.
this is to everyone who thinks about buying anything on ebay or elsewhere and is forced to use paypal. don't do it!!! try to use any other source as western union. if yer don't believe me then read paypals policies they'll make your head spin

Sorry to hear about your experience. I have yet to use ebay. Stories like yours keeps me from trying out their service. I'll continue to order direct via phone or online.

I and everyone in my family has been using ebay and paypal for years. I've probably done atleast $10,000 worth of transactions through pay pal w/o a problem.

The important part is to be SMART about it. Esp. when making a big purchase like a car. You need to make sure you know what you are doing. No offense, but I wouldn't blame paypal, I think a big purchase like that is on you (EDITED FOR CONTENT)

I agree you have to watch what you buy and who you buy it from. I have easily done 10,000 + worth of transactions without a problem to date.

Sorry to hear you got a bum deal.

I have done about $4000 to $5000 worth of transactions and so far GRAVY!

I would use an escrow service for any high dollar item.

I've been usoing PayPal since the first week they started and I hhave never had a problem. In fact, just last month I bought something on Ebay for my cell phone that was listed as new and the item came and it was used with no instructions. I complained to the seller who basically told me I was a liar so I disputed the charge with PayPal and they refunded my money within a week.

Never buy anything that is not covered by a buyer protection plan and never pay for large ticket items without using escrow.

You should also go to this FBI site and file a complaint, let the seller know you did this, you'll see how fast you get your money back! http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp I once bought something on ebay and the seller never sent the item. I filed a complaint and a couple of years later I get a call from the DAs ofice in San Francisco. Turns out the guy was in prison on fraud charges and he was being forced to make restitution to all his victims, I actually got some checks paying me back!
