  • Vintage Cleaner/Wax?

    Hi All!

I found this older bottle of Meguair's Cleaner/Wax while cleaning out the maintenance building at the school I work at.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a circa date for this product...

    Thanks!

Good question. Hadn't crossed my mind as to whether it was still useable. It is not quite half full, and is still fluid even though the lid was not snapped on.

I found it in the back of a cupboard that didn't look like it had been cleaned out in 20 years, and that isn't an exaggeration.

I am hesitant to use it, just in case there is actually some heritage to it. I know Mike Phillips has some great stuff that dates back quite a while into Meguiar's history. Maybe this can be my first piece in my own collection.

          Hi Magnus,

I have a couple of those bottles in my collection, off hand I don't know when they introduced this bottle, but I think it was in the 1980's possibly even the early 1990's. I'll see what I can find out...

Shake it up well and try it out, as long as it hasn't frozen, it probably still works.

I was guessing that this bottle was from that era. Thanks for looking in to this for me!

Maybe as a goof you can take it to that Auction Appraisal show on HGTV?

              That would be funny

Hehehe , I found a similar bottle buried in my garage. I called the Meguiar's 800 number to ask how it compared in abrasiveness to their current products. The customer service rep had never heard of it.

Went ahead and tried it, worked fine.

Just to add a little something, Meguiar's Cleaner/Waxes are all non-abrasive, in that they won't scratch the paint. a better word that describes the cleaning action would be word it as to how aggressive it is , (or isn't)

Also, I found out that this product came out in the mid to late 1980's.
