  • I kno my nxt car?!?!

So im 18 and I used to have a 1985 Camaro Z28 when I was 15. It had only 124,000 miles when I paid 2 grand of my own money. Turned out it had a lot of issues and it got like 10 miles to the gallon. I was surprised on my 16th birthday to get a brand new 2008 suzuki SX4 hatchback.
Dad just traded his old jeep with a friend for a 1997 Mustang GT. I drove is this weekend and fell in love wit its speed. My car does 0-60mph in like 11 sec. THe older stang does it in like 7.5 or something....not CRAZT fast but i really like it!! UGH!!!
I LOVE my car but a few things ****....heres the list that my NEXT car MUST HAVE!!!!
    - Automatic Headlights
    - Sunroof
    - steering wheel controls
    - cruise control (even my 1985 camaro had it, but my 2008 doesnt)
    - auto climate contol
    - HID's Stock
    - a sporty look
    - leather
    - and it must do 0-60 mph i under 6 sec.....

I WANT A 2011 GT sooo bad!!!! lol

Not a fan of the SN197 body but (LOVE the SN95 new edge) but the new 5.0 makes my jaw drop. I've been wanting Ford to do that for YEARS.....It's like they were listening all along ^_^.

I had a 97 GT 5spd nice car miss it, but mine had a 2000 GT motor dropped in it with pulleys, mild cam, intake and straight pipe exhaust put out about 290 HP from the stock 260hp 4.6L just make sure on the older SN95's 4.6L intake manifolds tend to crack at random i switched mine to a half plastic metal one from trick flow i think it was.

Is there a price range? There are quite a few cars that have those options.

Jeez. Automatic headlights are your number one equipment must-have in a car? It must have a sporty look. How about actually being sporty - as in good handling and quick??

Quick! Call Barry. We have a genuine Cary Crazy dude here! I can hear Barry's interview about how love for automatic headlights was passed on from father to son...

Seriously, the current generation will be the death of the car hobby....

2005 Ford GT - Pass. No automatic lights!

Ferrari 599 - Nope. No sunroof!

1965 Shelby 427 S/C Cobra - Pass. No HIDs, no automatic climate control!

1962 Ferrari 250 GTO - No steering wheel controls, no way!!!!

I'd wait 5 years then to actually think about it. There are a lot of cars that will come and go or change in that time.

Re: I kno my nxt car?!?!

Anyone with half a brain would know taking a new car to college is a bad idea. You are surronded by people who either a) have crappy cars or b) don't care about anything because their family will buy them a new car or c) are just bad drivers.

My suggestion would be to get something that isn't a piece, but isn't anyting you want to keep for the future. Plus, in college you shouldn't have a lot of free time to wash/wax/detail the car (implying your free time should be either studying, or hanging out with friends).

Also, would it kill you to use full words in a title? C'mon man....
NOTE: Post count does not reflect actual detailing knowledge.

Come on guys, let's not jump all over the guy just because he voiced an opinion about he wants in a car. We were all 18 once and maybe today our overall taste in cars, and our appreciation for certain types of cars, is different now than it was then. He's entitled to want what he wants as much as the rest of us are - what's the big deal?

You've been warned about this condescending attitude before, please refrain in the future. So what if he doesn't want the same thing in a car that you do? Get over it.

Really, this is your comparison? You think he's going to drop $20-25 million on his next car?

He said his next car would have to wait until after college, and then you go and basically insult him. Very nice. You've got something against this young man (we've shut down other threads in the past where you were involved in basically harassing him) so if you don't want to read his posts - don't. It's very easy.

We have very little tolerance for this sort of behavior here on MOL, and while we normally don't like to call people out publicly, sometimes we feel we must.

Please don't force us to close this thread. As my predecessor used to say, just push away from the keyboard for a bit.

I guess it's been a little bit since some on here have gone to college? There really aren't that many "crappy" cars being driven around anymore, at least not where I'm at.

I've been driving my Mustang, my 2001 Neon before and my current 2003 Neon and my F150 on occasion, to school for 5.5 years now. I've not once gotten a door ding, let alone anything more major. Get there a bit earlier and pick a good spot; just like when you go to the store. Following that mentality, you may as well never buy a new car because there is ALWAYS someone, somewhere, who doesn't care about your car that will park next to you.

Agreed. Even when I drove to high school, I never had a door ding. But, that cold also be due to my curb-parallel parking space. Even in college now, I have not once had a problem. But, that is because I take the last spot in the farthest lot and no one parks next to me.

But in all seriousness, I wouldn't really worry about it. Jst use common sense and it should all work out.
