  • Sneak preview of my new web site

Hi all, I'm trying to build my own web page. It's real slooooow going too. I'll tell you this, I couldn't really navigate a forum until I spent a few months here at MOL. I would say I'm like the newest newb to web design, plus I'm very unartistic to boot.

Please take a look and tell me what you think. Remember this is my first site and I just got started last week.

Please tell me if there are load time issues also. I can resize the images to speed up load time.

The email link does work woo hoo!! That took some time!

This web site stuff isn't very easy. I'm trying to learn the code too rather than just doing everything in design.

The colors and layouts are just for testing, as I have yet to really decide on what colors I want.

The url doesn't match the web site name because this is a free site I'm using as my test server. When I get further along I'll get the url locked in.

Please pass on any tips or tricks, ideas, and or comments. One more thing any MOL members that have web sites, I'd be willing to add links to your sites to my site (if not in my market area ). We can work that out later.

Well, I think you need a little more content to get people interested. You need to make the opening page intriguing and give people a reason to stay and look deeper.

          Hey Scrub,

I'm a webmaster, the program that I used to build webpages is Macromedia Dreamweaver, is an excelent tool. But for newbies I recommend MS Frontpage that is included in the MS office, will be a good start.

I am in the internet stuff since 1998, so I have a couple of years in this. Right now, I work for the U.S. goverment here in my country, my jobs is Internet related.

Detailing is my weekend hobbie, and during the week I always QD my car because I don't have too much time.

If you have any questions related to internet, please feel free to contact me.

            Thanks for replies...

ftboomer I agree. I'll work on that as I learn more. Thanks for the help.

Cipitio, Thanks for the advice on programs and the offer to field questions.

I'm very new at this. I was using the site to see what my ideas look like. Nothing is set in stone. I will add additional pages as I learn more. Todays tasks were simple. First to get the index uploaded to my free host. After that tonights task was to get an email link to work. So far I'm 2 for 2 with my tasks. With some help of course.

Thanks again and check back next weekend.

I agree with Cipitio, I use FrontPage and love it as an amateur. Here's what I've been able to do with FP.

Your site looks great. I'm gonna show that off to my Navy buddies.

I'm still starry eyed on the fact I started a web site. When that wears off it will be down to business.

                Thanks again.

                    Update

                    Update.

I guess I sold out. I went with godaddy.com for registering the domain name. I also decided to use them for hosting. I then added on the web site tonight feature and built a page from a template to get something up and running while I built my page myself.

Here's the link. Aiken Auto Detailing

I can't believe I'm on the net with a decent looking page. I realize its cookie cutter but hey its a start. Please give it a look. I will upload more pics later it was getting late last night.

Its all coming together. Thanks for everyones help and support. Please feel free to send banners and links for your detailing web site. I'd love to include them in my site too.

I would like to get started on weekends only for some extra cash. I really enjoy detailing but I can only work part time in the winter!?!? not to sure that would work here in Iowa. My "real" job requires TONS of hours in the summer. 6 days a week sometimes 7, 65-70 hours a week and no Saturdays or Sundays off, but its all worth it.
