  • California Duster: Love it or Hate it

    Love it.
I'm using it on a black Prelude and it works amazing. Yesterday it was raining so I decided to dust the car before heading out. It took 15 minutes to dust the car a few times and it picked up whatever dust was on their. I can tell it was doing its job, I first did the hood and top of the car, looked at the duster and it had picked up quite abit of dust. I gave it a shake and continued to do the sides of the car. On my second pass the Duster wasn't picking up as much as the first so I was good to go.
Usually the next day after a rainfall my car always has those filmy water spots, people who have a black car will know what I'm talking about, but this morning I didn't see any.

As for the Duster this is how I prepped it up, you'll need:
    70 sheets of newspaper
some kind of weight (I used an old PC I had lying around)

I sandwiched the Duster between 10 pieces of newspaper, 5 on the top and 5 on the bottom and then placed my PC on top of it. I changed all 10 pieces of newspaper daily for 7 seven. There's alot of oil that the newspaper will absorb, the first 4 days were the worst, the oil from the Duster soiled through all 40 sheets of newspaper. Days 5-7 weren't as bad.

Use my Duster daily I season my new dusters by laying them out in the sun for about 3 days, shaking them out daily and exposing a different section of the duster, no streaks

These can be perfectly fine if used properly - meaning just a light touch for dust removal. Too many people make the mistake of practically scrubbing the paint with them, and that's not good no matter what you use. As with any other tool you use on your car, technique is critically important.

It's a great tool...just a tip. Always use on a cool surface or you will get some streaking if you have dark paint.
        Black......the ONLY color!

Been there, done that, learned that lesson. GREAT ADVICE!

I love mine. Used daily. I came across an old one at a local swap meet this summer. One with a WOODEN HANDLE.

Put me down in the "Love it" column.
I got so mad at a girl who was texting while she was driving, that I rolled down my window and threw my beer at her

I use mine daily on the car, a small one on the golf cart and a big one attached to a pole to dust my 38 ft motor home.
