  • My Sister's New Car

Alright. So my sister is buying this brand new 2010 Honda CR-V. It is coming fully loaded with a navigation system, leather interior, fog lights, etc. Now, the bad news is that she is buying it in the color that can be a blessing or a curse..............................BLACK. There is not even any flake in the paint so everything truly is shown. She took my dad and I to go see it one afternoon and I brought along my little Black & Decker LED spotlight to check on the paint.

What you are about to see may disturb you................................

The engine bay was nice and clean as I would expect to see it.

Here is a shot of the side. It looks very nice from this distance.

The back of the car from a distance also looks very nice.

The reflectons are amazing on this side even though the car is dirty and not prepped at all.

Now, it's time for me to start inspecting the paint closely........let's see what we can find!

Here, we have some beautiful RIDS. What dealership car wouldn't be complete without some of these?

    Or one of these......

Oh of course! How could I forget? The holograms!!!! They never seem to stay astray on dealership vehicles.....

More holograms!!!! You can't see them very well but there are horizontal and vertical sanding marks on this bumper. They need to teach these technicians.....

After this, my eyes couldn't stand any more of this torture. In fact, I called the UN and said that the dealership had violated laws of the Geneva Convention.

Anyway that's it. Hope you enjoyed! Or didn't enjoy................

I don't see anything out of the ordinary.

    Jokes aside...

That's pretty bad. How did your sister feel about this? I know you guys are negotiating on 2 cars. Not too impressive on the first.

Did she accept the vehicle in that condition, or what's being done?

She is the typical car buyer. I told her to make sure the dealership does not even wash it but she insists that they do. She said she wants the car to "shine" when she pickes it up. Then, we can really see some damage.

But, in her eyes if they car is shiny, it's great and who am I to say she's wrong. It is her car.

Keep in mind the dealer not going to pay someone a couple hundred dollars to do the paint correction. I am sure they have shortcuts in the industry to make it appear like they did but like most things it will come out in the wash, so to speak.

That's nothing dude. If you want to see something really horrible, I'll have to get some pics of a brand new 2010 Corvette ZR1 at my local Chevy dealer. It's dark gray, but the holograms are so bad, it'd make even the hardest of detailers just white with terror! Good luck on your sister getting the car, though. My sister is about to buy her first car, a 2000 Ford Escort Sport in red.
