  • Odd car problem

I have noticed that every now and again when my 06' G6 has sat for overnight or all day, that when i start it, it slightly jerks. I havent even taken it out of park or anything. Only 65K! Anyone ever heard of this with any car?

Sounds like transmission not completely dis-engaged after car was shut off. When you turn the key, the starter motor turns the drive shaft and drives the transmission just a little.

Would you say that is a serious/expensive problem?

I was thinking something smaller, like a loose motor mount. I dont think the car is actually trying to move but maybe the engine jerking from cranking it? I hope i dont sound like an idiot.

If black smoke comes out of the exhaust at a cold starts guess the o2 sensor should be checked. If the exhaust is normal it could be a weak rubber mounting.

But if an O2 sensor was bad wouldnt i have a check engine light? I have noticed i havent gotten as good gas mileage as i should. Also, how do i know which sensor?

Wow, this exact problem happened to my car last night when I was leaving work and again this morning. Its shakes for a few seconds after starting but then its fine. I got a check engine light now.
