  • Please help me! Car died!!!

hi. I have a 2008 Suzuki Sx4...i have Hid headlights and foglights.....i turned on my headlights today and i car went into limp mode. Pulled over and had it towed to a dealership. The Dealership ran it and i got a code like P0607? The re flashed my ECM and it fixed the issue. I drove it home with the headlights on....no issues. Went into a store and came out. Turned on lights and it went into limp mode again. Came home to eat and then going back to have it towed 45 miles away! Plz give me ideas? or advice? I have a lot of electrical stuff running. Amps, headunit, speakers, subs...etc. I have had my headlights for about 5 months with no issues but all of a sudden today.....I HAVE NO CAR!!! NOT 18 SO IDJ IF I CAN GET A RENTAL! HELP!!!!

Did ya ever upgrade your battery with all the other electrical upgrades you've put into the car? The battery and the alternator would be the first two suspects that I would go to since they control your cars electrical systems.

Also......what the heck is limp mode???? You gotta be alittle more descriptive.

I'm not a mechanic but that's where I would start!

limp mode is where the can only go in like first gear or something. it supposed to allow u to move outta traffic but prevent damage to the engine. so u don't drive@ like 80mph wit a problem. lol tow truck is on there way

Did you do the electrical work yourself? I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you don't have certifications to do electrical work on vehicles - which is a lot harder, and more dangerous than people realize.

The VAST majority of car fires originate from improper wiring from stereos and such.

I would start with having a real audio shop check over the wiring you have done and see if you have any bad grounds.

um no. i didn't do any of the work. all done by professionals at local audio speciality shops so i didn't wire anything wrong. lol it was towed off to the towing place and will remain on the flat bed until morning when it is taken to charlotte...,i hope i can get a rental.

Could just be a bad battery or bad connections.

A sure way to zap your power source....IE..... battery and alternator is with audio equipment and anything that requires a substantial amount of energy.
If you added all of these extras without upgrading your power source to handle them then I'm really thinking that's causing your current dilemma.
Your battery and alternator were probably doing good to begin with and adding all these extras just degraded it over time to the point where your at now.

Sorry I can't tell you more since I'm a dummy when it comes to the inner workings of electronics (I hate getting shocked so I don't mess with it....unless it's a matter of life or death!)

Cars are like humans.....get them cranky enough and it's only a matter of time before they snap!

I'd also guess it's the battery. Heat kills them more than cold. Combine newer mods and a high amp draw with summer temps and it's only a matter of time till the battery dies.

Like some people mentioned earlier have the battery checked. The only other thing that comes to mind is if all that electrical equipment blew a fuse.

                        Check the fuses.

Sorry to hear about the car troubles...

I hate to say it, but with all of the draws on your electrical system, I wonder if a voltage spike damaged your PCM??? There is a possibility that something was hooked to another system that could not handle the draw or as Mark suggested, a bad ground. If something failed and caused a voltage spike, it could have damaged the PCM.

The first thing I would do is scan the codes and find out what system is being affected and then you will have to trace it down the line to find out what is causing the error code. On a modern vehicle, that is no easy task.

Though it will be expensive, it may be best to take it the car dealership as they may have seen this problem before or they may have the specialized equipment to diagnose the problem properly. Code readers only give you the code of the item being affected and not necessarily what is causing it...

Good luck and please keep us posted...

It's God's way of saying you shouldn't have HIDs in halogen housings...J/K

Definitely some sort of electrical problem, obviously. With everything you have in/on that car, you should upgrade the grounds and probably even the power wire in the engine bay too. Basically, along the lines of "The Big 3."

The OBDII trouble code of p0670 shows up as a glow plug module control. Is that vehicle a diesel engine?
