  • Do you get uncomfortable...

...when you see cars like this?

The wheels made me shudder. It's not like it's a muddy mess from a weekend of fun, it's just months and months of never washing it at all- even in an automatic!

I mean, yeah, I see dollar signs, but they weren't interested. I weep for cars like this!!! Am I alone in my uncomfort?!?

      Re: Do you get uncomfortable...

One of my clients decided to save some dough and use the drive-thru car washes for about a year. In that period the brake dust baked into his chrome wheels so badly he now has to have them re-chromed. the drive-thru just didn't get the wheels clean enough, and it kept building up.

Going to go out on a limb and guess that will cost more than it would have cost to have me spiff it up 2-3 times during that year...

Psssshh... That sort of thing could never make me uncomfortable. I left my prized possession/dream car in the 'care' of lazy, disrespectful, apathetic, fool.
In nine months he has destroyed a battery, created a nasty rust problem, and started a spider infestation.
For the next 44 days I have to worry about tree limbs, hail storms, and many, many other things screwing up even more parts that have not been in production for more than a decade.
He doesn't even know how to make things right with me.
Messed up situation. His gross display of incompetence has left a bad impression on me. I should have known not to trust my dad.

I know were all car crazy, but I may have a problem or many. I can only hope everything will work out.

I some times shake my head at the way people care for there cars. But hey it is there car. If they do not want to maintain it. Who am I to judge. It is their money they are throwing away.

I cringe and I see potential for a rescue! Sometimes though the little voice in my head wonders if maybe, just maybe, living without such worries wouldn't be so bad.

I get uncomfortable because they usually park beside me when I park out in the boonies at a store.

I just stay in the house and draw the shades. I think I mentioned that same philosophy in a previous thread.... . Heck, I live in Arizona and I am as white as a sheet!

                  Uncomfortable? No.

A bit disappointed perhaps, depending on the car.

It is a bit humorous, however, when you see a Mercedes or BMW (or some other car notorious for very heavy brake dust) with very dirty rear wheels and clean front wheels. Just got the tires rotated, did you? Yeah, a clean up might be in order now.

Nice truck, too. My guess, they wash it in an automatic, and they don't even "see" the wheels (hey it matches the paint).

It is too bad, that truck would look really good with just a good wash.

The only time I really felt sick to my stomach seeing a car in that kind of condition was the other day when I saw a car I used to own going down the road looking like that. I always kept it pristine, and the people who own it now have effectively trashed it.

When I park next to a car like this in a parking lot and the owner is not around I like to clean half of a wheel just so they can see the contrast. My wife is guilty of this too. She sends me pictures of cars that look like that knowing that it drives me nuts. I mean, you buy a car and have to make payments on it. That's a lot of money to put into something monthly. For heavens sake, take care of the darn thing!
