I don't mean to sound lets say fecicious, but what is the fascination with the lights on your vehicle? I know you have the HID's already. The only cars I see with flashing strobes are "showcars". Kind of like an attention getter at the show. Just curious that's all.

Check your DPS laws. I think blue hi beams(HIDs) and strobe lights would get tons of unwanted attention and eventually in hot and deep water. Not worth it. I say express yourself and customize you car legally.

No. im not fascinated or anything. I got the idea of flashing lights @ a car show. They looked really cool. espically @ nite. And the hids provide great visibility. The further i can see, the safer it is...and they dont look as cheap as normal halogens..

I used to own a tomato red, 1988 Mazda RX7-GTU. In traffic school many years ago (I was attending to keep a speeding ticket off my DMV record) I asked the instructor, a CHP officer, why police targeted red cars more than any other color. The officer stated the obvious. "You buy a red car to get noticed. Congratulations. You got noticed."

HID's, strobe lights, undercarriage light kits are all really cool mods, but they're not only going to grab the attention of other modders, but others you would just as soon not notice your vehicle.

But this is just a word of caution. I don't want to rain on any parades!

i did contact my dept of publice saftey. They told me i had to apply for a permit. I did apply and was granted an "emergency light autorization permit". I have to display it in my window...so am i legally good to go?
and i passed many cops with my hids...no problems yet.

For the laws specific to your area. I would check with the public safety office or your local police Department.

Here in PA, you can have strobes/neon lights but they CANNOT be turned on except when at a car show/parked (at least this is the case in my borough). As for HID's I have heard rumors that they are acceptable up to and including 6k. Anything beyond that is pointless anyway as you begin to lose any gained visibility over halogen bulbs. Most factory HID's are in the 4300k range. I have 6k but I am really considering going to 4300k.

Bottom line is to do as others have said and confirm all of these questions with your local ordinances. Just remember that these rules can change from one jurisdiction to another.

                    Re: Any cops on here...?

I'm not a LEO, but in my opinion if you're parked at a car show or something of the sorts, there's nothing wrong with strobes. Not my taste, but I don't see anything wrong with it.

There are only three reasons why you should have strobes on while driving:
                    1. You're a LEO
                    2. You're a firefighter/EMT
                    3. You're a construction worker working at a construction site in a work truck

What color are the strobes you're wanting? What are you planning on doing with them, ie. drive down the road with them on? Use them in parking lots while stationary? Use them at car shows? Parades?

yea. i will be using amber and white. I was able to get in touch with the GOHS and was told that with my emergency light permit i can operate my lights on any road i want. i want them to use if i ever encouter an emergency...pulled over. waiting to pick someone up...any thing where i need to make myself visible

                          Re: Any cops on here...?

I thought they invented things called emergency flashers for that purpose. Do something to increase horsepower or something useful to your car. I know your just a young kid but I can tell you in a few years you will think the strobes, and the big exhaust tips that makes your car sound like a weed whacker just isn't cool. I laugh at cars like that and shake my head as I drive by.

I wouldn't do it. Spend your money on something more worthwhile.
