  • D151 gallon product question

I was just curious as to how full a gallon of D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream should be?

I bought a gallon of D151 from an online vendor and the foil seal was still under the cap, but the seal was no longer attached. Maybe it came off during handling in shipping. No product was leaked in box, but the level of product in the container seemed lower than the advertisement pictures shown on MOL.

My gallon jug is filled to about the red line in the picture below.

Is that about where the product level should be?

I have the same product and have filled two bottles that you put hair dye in not sure the ounces Im guessing roughly around 30 total and mine is still at the top crease the one above your line. so Im guessing you didnt get a brand new full product. Can you tell us what online vendor you bought it from

I think the bottle should come full...I have a gallon at home, will check it out later.

I just double checked some fresh inventory we have on hand here in Irvine, and all the bottles are pretty darn close to that level. I don't believe you were shorted in any way - we've seen those foil seals come loose at times, depending on a variety of factors.

Again, the entire inventory we have here is filled to that point, or only very slightly above that.

          Thanks for checking Mike.

Here is my actual bottle just for future reference.

I wouldn't argue with Mr. Stoops, but either you got cheated or I got lucky. Just took a look at my gallon jug. After filling a 12oz squeeze bottle, mine is still an inch over where yours is at. An inch in that jug is quite a lot of product.

Yours is an inch over mine after already filling a 12 oz bottle? Wow.

I thought it looked low to me, but having never purchased it before, I was not sure. If Mike says that is the level that all of their new bottles of D151 are at Meg's in Irvine, that is good enough for me. I mainly just wanted to make sure that I did not buy an already used bottle. It makes me wonder if maybe they have a problem in manufacturing if your bottle has that much more product than mine, though.

If memory serves me correctly. That was about the level that my gallon had. You were not gypped.

Yea, sounds like you guys just got really lucky. Which does not really make sense since manufacturing is supposed to dispense a precise amount into each bottle, right?

Oh well, it's not a big deal, though. I still have more than enough to last me for quite some time. I mainly inquired to be sure that I did not receive a partially used bottle, which I now know I did not.

Now I just need some time to get out into the garage and try it out.

Just so no one thinks I'm blowing smoke, here is my gallon jug of D151 after filling one 12oz bottle.

Here are 3 of my gallon jugs. From the left is Wheel Brightener, APC, and APC+. All three are after filling two 32oz bottles, one at 10:1 and one at 4:1. The APC+ has filled a little more. As you can see, none are even at the top crease. I've never received a gallon jug that wasn't about an inch over that crease.

They may be using plastic jugs from a new vendor. A small change in dimensions could make the volume look different even when they aren't.

Good point. I never thought of that.

I just went and compared my new bottle of D151 to my gallon jug of APC that I have had for a few years, and the bottles are shaped a little differently. This could very well be the reason for the different fill level appearance.

Very nice. You would have never gotten that kind of logic out of a guy. Thanks!
