  • 2007 Saab 9-7x needs new engine!

I just bought a used 2007 Saab 9-7x 3 months ago and it is now sitting at the dealer waiting to have its engine rebuilt. I'm sorry, but at 65,000 miles, no car should need a new engine. The dealer suspects that the previous owner may not have maintained it properly.

Long story short: I have not been able to detail my car (and I don't even have a rental) so I'm going through withdrawal! I don't know what to do with myself!

Anyone in RI need their car done? Lol.

Hope it is being covered by the dealer. You are right. No car should need a engine that soon. Just proves the point. Do your regular maintenance. Your car will run for a very long time.

I mean I hadn't driven very many miles since purchasing the car, either. I had just changed the oil 3,000 miles ago and they said that I was 3 quarts low (out of 6 quarts). That intrigues me because you'd think there would be SOME indication that I was that low BEFORE my display starts flashing, "STOP ENGINE". And I know for a fact that I put 6 quarts in (why would I put just 3?).

We had a 1992 Plymouth Grand Voyager with the Mitsubishi 3.0 V-6 that developed a valve blow-by problem while on vacation several years ago. The van had about 61,000 miles on it. It turned into an add a quart every time you fill the tank before we got back home. Chrysler rebuilt both heads with all the parts under warranty. Never had a problem with the engine ever again. We ran it until it had around 215,000 miles.
