  • Consumer alert!!!

    Hey all,
Check your phone bills for unusual charges. I got dinged on mine.
If you ever go to a website read the fine print and even then who knows you may be agreeing to a "service" unknown to you until your bill is a lot higher.
I have already gotten credit, I think, , from my carrier. I also called the scammer and raised cane with them. I also called the FTC and filed a complaint as well as to my AG's office. They are fully aware after I mentioned the name of this company and in fact this company has already been fined by the FTC. Not sure if I can name the company but if you Google it a WHOLE bunch of stuff comes up. PM me if you want to know or if a Mod thinks it is OK to put it out here.

Curious what type of "service" you would sign up for online that would cause your phone bill to go up (unless we are talking cell phones)? You can sign up for all kinds of stuff online for cell phones that will, I'm sure, cause large increases in billing.

It was a jobsite my wife went to according to what this scammer sent me yesterday. Her e-mail was the e-signature that approved this. Nowhere in the TOS did I see this. The info was correct except for the birth date.

It was a "phone service" company in NJ. There are many DBA's that front this.
It was then billed by a third party biller called OAN Services, Inc. Search them and you won't believe what comes up!! Lets say they have a history!

          +1 on the heads up

Not sure if you all use Facebook, but there are many "fan pages" such as "Free $500 gift card to ____ ___" and things of such sort that requires your personal info (including cell phone number) that may also be scams. Just remember that if it's too good to be true, it probably ain't (exception to this rule: ADS).

Yep, most likely is. Also "free" coupon sites are dangerous too.
It's like the Wild Wild West on the Net. Be careful. I got lucky and caught it before I even paid. I have read that for some people they paid for years before catching on and that is what makes these "business's" stay around.

You know, maybe that's what the "www." stands for. Instead of World Wide Web, it's the Wild Wild West.
