  • best sport seen in person and not on t.v.

Growing up in Minnesota I watched alot of hockey in person and on t.v.. Since moving to Missouri I have tried to watch the St. Louis Blues on t.v. and quickly loose intrest. Yesterday I went to the minor league hockey game in Indep. Mo., fell in love with hockey again. I can hardly wait to see another one in person. What other sports do you think is better seeing in person than on t.v.?

Definitley supercross and motocross are awesome to see in person. On tv you don't get the smells and the feeling of anxiety from being there.

NASCAR, absolutely NOT the same on TV. You don't know what 200 MPH is until you sit on the front stretch at Talladega! I don't know of any sport that is better on TV. Being there; the smells, sounds, the crowds. TV just can't capture or replicate it.
There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

Drifting... I had ZERO interest in drifiting until I was invited by Ford to go to Irwindale Speedway and meet their Mustang drifter... Vaughn Gittin Jr. (You can find my article about it on www.leftlanenews.com if you search for Mark Kleis or Irwindale)

First of all, that guy is AWESOME. One of the most down to Earth guys I've ever met - and he's considered by most to be the best drifter in America.

As for the sport itself, wow... the crowd gets PUMPED in the finals and it was INTENSE watching those guys square off. Definitely something I will repeat... and prior to attending the race I had ZERO interest in drifting.

I'm not a big sports person, but watching Minor League Baseball and Hockey is ohh so much better then the big leagues. Your so much closer to the action, you can hear what the players are saying, you can see their expression....it's way better then going to a crowded stadium that holds 50 to 100k people. I'm not a crowd person, put me with a crapload of strangers in a small space and I turn into a totally different person.

Dave I agree, I'd watch the NFL alot more if it was Rugby. Drop all the padding and earn the gazillion dollars they get!!

I can imagine. I use to go to a dirt track in Ankeny Ia. year, many years, ago it was loud and fun to watch. I have people that I work with that they would rather watch NASCAR than football. I can not understand that. My inlaws are into drag raceing. I see no point in it. They say you must see it in person to really like it.

Any car race in person. I'm a fan of open wheel racing on city streets. The thrill of the cars going by at 230 MPH and to know that in 2 weeks after the race; you can drive on the same streets these cars were just on is fun for the imagination.

Formula 1 racing is somewhat tame when viewed on television..............but to actually go to a race and hear the cars is unbelievable. I went to the US Grand Prix in Indianapolis twice but hadn't been to the US Grand Prix since it was in Watkins Glen. So I had a gap of about 25 years between F1 races but I have never lost interest. I have been a fan of Formula 1 racing since the days of Juan Manual Fangio and Stirling Moss.

I've watched different sports live baseball, football and, being canadian, hockey of course and they are all fine but, the best thrill I have ever had is watching a top fuel doing a run. The best is sitting 3/4 down the track where he's at Wide Open Throttle it's the best.

Most High School sports. The kids are competing because of the love of the sport. Not to be on sportscenter. As get older I appreciate there efforts more and more.

Probably the best event I have seen in person was the ARMY-Navy football game in 1994 or 1995 in Philly. I have seen NASCAR, NHRA, NFL, NHL, MLB, NCAA football, NCAA basketball playoffs, and Pro golf. Anything in person is better than TV though.

My father inlaw would be envious. It has been years since he has gotten out his comp rail car. He says that if it does not have an engine in it, it is not a sport.
